Tires / Bridgestone BT-45 Wear?

I've read through a most of the tire threads and tire entry in the wiki.

I'm looking for a sport touring tire. Bike came with IRC Roadwinners and are still okay at ~ 18,000 kms.

I'm looking for tires with similar or close to similar wear (8,000 km upcoming trip) but better traction.

From what I've read, BT45 is the best compromise.

So, for those of you running BT45, what's your milage with them and how are they holding up?

I'm open to other suggestions.

PS: I'll be doing a decent amount of gravel roads too.

i put bt45's on mine at 11k. 8k miles later they still look great. i average about 1200 miles a month commuting. the rear is starting to look just a little squared off, but the tread is nowhere near the wear bars. i'd say another 5-7k at least.

i'd recc. the bt45's to anyone

I would suggest the BT45's too. My factory fitted IRC's are nearing the wear indicator and my odometer is only at the 10,100 kms mark (thanks to the roads i ride on :P)

The grip levels and the life of the BT45's are better than the IRC's. Plus the 130/70/17 size looks a tad wider than the IRC's (they look like 140 width tires compared to IRC's due to more rounded profile on the edges).

I went through 2 sets of BT-45 and they were great tires on the ninja. I got 10,000 miles on each set. My riding was a mix of commuting and weekend twisties. They were great tires and have plenty of grip.

BT45's are great road tires as they're hard compound in the center. If you're a canyon carver they are awesome as the sides are soft compound but don't expect them to last as long. Great tires, ninjette racers don't unanimously use their 501's for nothing.
