How much did I just get ripped off?

Called a bunch of locksmiths in my area since I lost my key. He just charged me $145 lmao...Caught me off guard and I should’ve asked before he cut it, but I also didn’t wanna buy another blank and wait.

Hi Nicholas & welcome to Ninjette!

Not ripped off if you're paying for convenience and instant results! When I got my 2002 bike-in-boxes project, I called around to see who could cut me master key from key-code only (behind helmet-lock and ignition-switch). Found one guy with proper software to convert Kawasaki key-code into cut-codes. Ended up costing me $50 for two brand-new master-keys. I've got one in safe and one on bike.

Ok cool good to know. I probably should’ve done more research but oh well. That definitely took a lot of funds though and the gas tank isn’t opening for some reason.

Some good threads on pre-gen keys are here. Locksmiths should be optional if you can get the code.

I had to get a new key cut for my pre-gen and it took a couple tries to get one that would open the gas cap. All worked in the ignition, though.
