so don't despair, new gen folks...I'm not.
Those are some ugly ass wheels. If I do end up getting one, IF they bring it over to the US, I'm swapping my gold powdercoated sportsi rear and stock front over. looks like other parts will swap too.

It's definitely more styled after the 650R with most of the ZX10 cues coming from the 650R's own attempts to borrow from the ZX series. The tail/passenger seat and exhaust are closer to a ZX10, but the fairings are straight-up EX650-style.

Reading more and more about this makes me even more excited!

If it will in fact be fuel injected the bike would be near perfect (for me)

I intentionally chose a primary domain name that didn't include 250 just in case Kawi ever changed the displacement for this class of bikes. Looks like it will stay 250 for awhile longer, though. I like the pics, and like the FI & ABS. Greatly hopeful that these improvements make their way to the US market. But considering Kawi doesn't even offer ABS on the ZX-14R in the US while offering it everywhere else, I wouldn't count our chickens until they hatch...

shoot actually I bet there will be a bunch of 08-12 for sale soon for cheap! I might just get another one of those.

but seriously look at the gauge cluster and the fairings... looks sexy as hell. The CBR250 CANNOT TOUCH THIS NINJA 250!

As smoking hot as this new thing is....I'll believe it when I see it on a showroom floor.

I'm still holding off for a Yamaha R2....certainly yamaha is working on something, I can't see them being stupid enough to let two outstanding 250R's and the CBR250 go unanswered.

Oh, and yamaha has a brand spanking new fuel-injected 249cc engine out for 2013....so get ready. The R2 is coming, you can bet on it.

But they need to bring those features here to the US to compete with the CBR250. Just look at the Kawi site. http://www.kawasaki-cp.khi.co.jp/mcy...ex250lm_e.html They definitely made this bike to kill the CBR250 in every way. They don't want to lose to Honda.

Increased engine performance care of new pistons, cylinder, crankcases and exhaust puts the Ninja 250 in a class of its own. Superior power and torque at all rpm, a vast top-speed advantage and class-leading acceleration performance ensure the Ninja 250 rides at the front of the pack.

Well I hope at least.

And a new engine!!! It is just a sweet ass bike!!! I really hope I can get one. But I doubt I can afford it. I'll probably have to wait and get a used one.

Oh God I hope so. Yamaha would make one sexy ass bike! If it looks anything like an R6 I am so down. I'll definitely hold out for another year just in case Yamaha does do something amazing. And if they don't, I'll be able to pick up one of these new ninjas second hand for a reasonable price.

Maybe, maybe not. Only their product planners and sales execs know whether adding features that are more expensive to produce will ultimately result in more profit. Have ninjette sales even dipped since the CBR has been released? Anecdotally, it seems like the CBR's are lingering in the showroom while Kawi is still happily selling the bikes they import to the US.

Of course I hope all of the upgrades are available to us, and I'd almost certainly pick one up the first year if so.

That would be great if Yamaha introduces a 250cc sport bike styled off of the YZF series.

The new ninja 250 looks sooo hot. Both fortunately and unfortunately I just bought my 250. If I just waited I could get this, but since I already bought it I'm more willing to wait and see what yamaha as in store for us.

You got the tag right. It's the name you got wrong (you may have an underscore in your name, but he doesn't).

Damn it looks so sexy! I hate when they redesign it because it makes me want it so badly lol. Watch we all go out and buy the new 2013 ninjas and then next year, they come out with one that runs on water and gives you 100 bucks a day out of the exhaust. Super lame.

Hey, @Alex. Since this thread has turned into an actual discussion of the 2013 model, could we merge the threads and edit the OP with a notation that it was an April Fools? Also including a link to the first merged post for the serious discussion of the 2013 model would help.

Pretty nice, but I'll hang onto my current gen and upgrade to something with a bigger engine later down the line.

Now, if they put a 400 in this body, I'd run out the door right now to buy one.

O RLY?

Code:
EX250 prices US$
Year	Model Original MSRP	Inflated to 2008 dollars
1987	EX250-F1	2449 4641
1988	EX250-F2	2599 4731
1990	EX250-F4	3399 5602
1992	EX250-F6	2999 4601
1995	EX250-F9	3499 4238
1999	EX250-F13	2999 3876
2006	EX250-F6F	2999 3203
2008	EX250-J8F	3499 3499
This chart needs an update since 2008 though, considering the other price hikes. Even if it were $5,600, our 2013 dollars are worth less than the 5,602 2008 dollars it clocked in at in 1990.

Even then, it has dropped "R" from the name and now it is the only "new gen." Face it: You and I now ride previous-gen bikes and my pregen is now a pre-pregen (pre-pre-pregen to you Canadians).

My concern is why the change in engine design? Everything else remains mostly the same besides the aesthetics. May consider a swap in rear wheel though to the bigger tire.

I'm pretty sure it was re-engineered for a 300cc entry. Perhaps Yamaha planned an R3 instead of an R2.5? If so, it would make sense that Kawi would keep it at 250 until Yamaha played their hand.
