how to repair those pesky side fairings

ok so im in the process of repainting my ninja and plastic welding cracked and broken fairings. and im trying to take pics of what i do so i can help my fellow ninjas. so im going to be adding pics about other fixes as i do them but this first one is going to cover the pegs that slide under the gas tank.

like this one

the one on the left is factory, the right is the one i made.

ok so here is what you will need. you can get all these mats for under 10$ along with the tools.

1 Thumb tack -Free
some thin packing foam sheets -free from ordering stuff online
some type of glue 3$
heat shrink tubing free cuz i had it but you cna get it for 2$
a soldering iron 4$
and i lighter $0.25

Step 1, heat up the spot where the peg was and push the thumb tack into the fairing

Step 2, use the soldering iron to melt the bottom of thumbtack to the fairing

Step 3, now take the soldering iron and melt the top of the thumbtack down into a peg

Step 4, this is where the foam sheet comes into play

Step 5, cut a small strip bigger then the peg

Step 6, coat one side of the strip with glue

Step 7, wrap the foam around your new peg making it two and a half sizes bigger then the peg

Step 8, take your heat shrink tubing

Step 9, take some heat shrink tubing bigger then the peg and trim it to size

Step 10, heat the tubing on the peg in till the foam melts and allows the tubing to shrink down to the size the factory peg is.

Step 11, now take a smaller tubing and slip it over the peg

Step 12, heat it up but this time be careful not to melt the foam underneath any more then its been melted

Step 13, trim it to the right size

and boom you have a peg to slide under your gas tank, make sure to check back with me for more tips tricks and fixes for your ninja!

this is 7ox saying, ride safe, look good, and keep it Kawi!

Assuming most of the other pegs have some space under them (although you could just JB weld them to the old spots) this would work great for the holder pegs as well.
