Issue Reassembling Left Control pod
Hey yall,Good Morning/Night which ever time youre reading this at. here goes another help thread by a newbie,be gentle please.
Earlier this week I went and bought an ex 500 clutch lever. Everything was going swimmingly thanks to the 250 wiki...however nowhere on the wiki does it say how to take the old perch/assembly off.Long story short I end up prying it off but in that process I took apart the left pod so I wouldnt damage it. Now I cant get it back together. Anyone ever done this? |

Post one of where you are with it now and let's see if we can point you in right direction. |

took some just now. i see where there are indentions for the cable and the cable housing my problem is that im not sure how the lever fits, with the indention slotted on the top or the bottom, because i cant really pull the choke cable very far one way or another im not trying to break it, a secondary issue is that the bottom part where the cable is supposed to run outside of the housing isnt really wanting to go there

Hmm, did you use this page from 250 FAQ?
https://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Replac...6_brake_levers It's just one bolt to remove lever and one bolt to re-install. None of that stuff had to come part. Although it would make procedure easier if FAQ mentioned to loosen clutch-cable adjuster down by engine as well. Issue you have is you don't have enough slack on choke-cable and it's pulling choke-lever and cable-guide together and overlapping them, making re-assembly difficult. Best to disconnect choke-cable from carb to have plenty of slack. Then it'll be much, much easier to re-assemble. You want to line up the channel that cable runs through and connect them between pieces. Then it'll make sense how it all goes together. First, disconnect choke-cable from carbs: https://www.ninjette.org/forums/show...41#post1280141 . This can be done from side of bike without removing tank or carbs (don't be tempted to remove and lower engine). Might as well lube choke cable while you have apart. |

Lube not necessary, depending upon condition of cable. It's mostly maintenance-free as it faces much lower stresses than clutch-cable.
Lever should be aimed up in that photo. |

There's plastic stud in centre of that cover that goes into hole in handlebar. If you don't line up stud with hole, you won't be able to clamp two halves together.

My mother's family had chickens during the depression. She told the story of her older brother's turn killing one for dinner. Unfortunately he was queasy around blood, got the chicken's head half off and fainted, leaving my mother to catch the thing, now running around the yard, and finish the job.
