Pre group buy gauges

For some reason I could not post on the classifieds section but it might fit better here anyways. Alex you can move where ever you think it fits better.

Ok the big question how many of you guys would be willing to buy a universal digital gauge for under $100?

The plan is: I buy one nice looking Chinese made gauge. They seem of decent quality in the few pictures I have seen. It looks a lot like the Koso , obviously not as many futures and not expecting the same build quality. I am expecting it to be of decent quality, every future should be usable and accurate.

Once I get the gauge I will begin the process of installing it, I will document and take pictures of the installation and compile it into a DIY. will review the gauge and give sincere thoughts about quality, accuracy, looks, durability etc.

Wile doing all this I will be in talks with the supplier to negotiate a better price. I will have to give him a figure on how many people I expect to buy. Once we agree on price, we will start the actual group buy, hopefully most people that originally sign up will go through with the buy. Once we pay for the merchandise it would be ship to me, where I will separate individually and send to the respective addresses.

So again the question,This is assuming that after my review we find out that the gauge is of good quality, durability, accuracy etc.
are you in the market for a decent/good digital gauge for under $100?
I am not asking for people to commit, I am trying to figure out if there is a marker for lower end gauges (=<$100) that work as advertised or if most people would tick to brand name stuff.
The RPMs on the gauge below only go to 11k but the seller says he also has some that go to 14k.

Here are futures of the gauge
RPM meter
Speedometer
Tachometer
Fuel quantity
Clock
L/R turn signal light
High beam light
Neutral/park light
Water temp
Trip meter

Unless I'm having an off morning I'm fairly sure our bikes rev higher than that gauge displays.

Also, neutral light?
How the the fuel quantity displayed?

MORNING?
Yeah sorry about that, they don't have good English and I copied and pasted a few things. I'll fix it.
I think they meant to say
Nuetral/parking light instead of shift/brake light.

As far as rpm he said they have one that goes up to 14k

Wow, this is my one qualm with my little ninja...the lack of digital readouts. How difficult is one of these to install? I'll definitely keep looking back for updates

I am not asking anyone to commit to anything. I am simply asking that if the Gauge turns out to be good, would you buy it (good for the price/good value) or do you prefer to just get brand name stuff? Abviously if it turns out to be a dud no one is going to want it.

What I am trying to figure out is if there is a marker for lower end gauges that still good or if most people would stick to brand name $300 gauges.

So I am going to start a list, like I said before this is more to count how many people are interested and if the gauge turns out good they will get first dibs incase there is a good demand. You are not actually committing to anything.

If interested (you have the $$ and want to replace the stock gauge) add yourself to the list.

I am very interested as well but I don't easily get convinced, I'll wait for your review.
And as I have no knowledge about this: how cheap is <100 USD compared to other gauges?

that's definitely a great deal for a digital cluster. but of course that depends on the quality, if its broken after 6 months because of some low quality build, then it would defeat the point of getting it in the 1st place.

however, a lot of people would jump on this opportunity if its available, since the Koso kits are too expensive for most.

found this info on the web~
http://www.aliexpress.com/fm-store/2...OSO-RX1N-.html

but is says that the product is not available anymore from that site~

you might need to make some sort of bracket to fit it into the OEM cluster hole, and possibly a P&P harness, so that people with less experience don't end up with a mess splicing the cables, lol

Hey guys I need your help.
What size is the stock front tire? (xxx / xx-xx)
The manufacturer has to program the tire size.
I guess this would mean it could fit any tire. The only proven is that we might not be able to set this ourselves.

Here is the instructions, see if you guys can figure it out. At work and only looked at great for a sec.

I think the important questions should be:

1. How does it receive it's speed signal? How accurate is this method?
2. How do you plan on resolving the L/R turn signal indicators? the 08-09 models have 1 wire harnesses.

You have to install a magnet and sensor in the wheel
Don't know the accuracy. I think stock system uses something similar.

How does the stock guage know what blinked is turned on?

The stock gauge has only 1 light. Both harnesses from the turn signals converge into a single wire which leads to the light.

Magnet and sensor is the same pick up used in the Koso gauge, so it should be accurate. It wouldn't surprise me if they either manufacture them for koso or just stole the design.

If that's the same setup, then I wonder about how accurate the speed will be. My koso speedo came with 6 magnets, not 1. Although I guess as long it's calibrated right, it shouldn't be a huge issue. The one thing is that it will not likely be sensitive to changes in speed very quickly. The more magnets the speedo can read, the better/faster it is at changing the speed read out. I wonder if you could hack the koso speedo to work on this gauge tho?

Other things you would need to address:

Water temperature- does it come with any sensors? If not, water temp isn't going to work. What does it use to trigger the oil light?

I'm not trying to ruin your potential project. I think it's great you're going to go for it. I just want you to be ready for all the little things the seller isn't telling you.

Is it the same problem with all the aftermarket ones besides koso? I want to put a ZX10r gauge on mine, is it possible?
