40 tooth rear sprocket

Just got my Ninja 300 about 2 months ago and I am looking to make the change to a 40 tooth rear sprocket because you will not have to take out links in the chain, however I am having a hard time finding a 40 tooth rear sprocket. I have seen some on amazon that people said fit but when I put in the bike specs it says it doesn't. I found some on ebay that are around $50 some bucks but it seems like at some point they were cheaper. Does anyone know where I can find a good 40 tooth sprocket or am I better going with the $50 sprocket?

What are trying to do?

If you are replacing chain, get one with 106-links and that's it. No sprocket swaps or removing links needed.

If you want taller gearing, a 15/42t front swap is easier. Only 1.7% different from 14/40t combo (both about 6% taller than stock). Less chain-wrap angle in front is more efficient with less frictional losses.

I have a 40T rear sprocket on my Ninja 300 and didn't replace anything else. it works great. I had the same problem when I bought mine... don't believe the websites. If it has the dimensions and tooth count you need, it will work. I bought mine from ebay. This is the sprocket I bought:

Sprockets aren't cheap, Vortex has them for a wide variety of sizes and colors in aluminum. the power of the 300 won't kill an aluminum sprocket like other bikes. check sites like www.revzilla.com or www.sportbiketrackgear.com

Thanks for the input I was able to do some more research and found at JT sprocket on ebay that would fit. Just looking for something to extend 1st gear. I wanted the 40 tooth because I have read others that didnt have to take links out of the chain or anything like that.

Steal of steel

I got that JTR1486.40 for $5 delivered! Sometimes you waste money on ebay but sometimes you score. All ready did a 15 front so this should help even more. Bike is down for steering head brgs, suspension work,& rr tire. Can't wait for Spring!PS there are already Blizzard conditions in NW Minnesota!
