Talking Just bought my first bike! :D

My names Justin and I just got my dream bike!
All this past year I've been determined to get a bike and hunting on craigslist for a 250. I almost settled for a super nice 2006 black ninja 250 with 2k miles but with the price and it being a pre-gen I decided not buy it and kinda gave up on my dream. Then talking to my cousin about mini pocket bikes got me just checking on craigslist from time to time and BAM!! My dream bike popped up! All black 2011 Ninja 250R. I had money saved up, only 18 and still living at home so I called my grandpa and headed to check it out. Ended up having some cosmetic issues the guy didn't tell us (nothing major just stupid little stuff) about so my grandpas one of those guys who throws out crazy low balls and the guy actually accept it for $2,850 (originally listed for 3,500) and threw in an IIcon jacket, gloves, and all black helmet.
All in all I'm super excited and everything couldn't of worked out more perfect!

First bike I've ever owned but hopped right on it and started cruising around he neighborhood, I've taken it out about five times now and I'm getting really comfortable on it! Thinking I'm ready to get my motorcycles license and ready to hit the streets.

Here are some pics of my baby

Take the msf course. Do you really want to mess up the bike you just bought (like the guy in the other thread) due to stupid mistakes/inexperience? Better to drop the msf course bike than yours.

Welcome to the site, Justin Minardo !!!

Yes, first thing is taking the basic MSF course.

Second thing is practicing as much as possible during daytime and away from traffic, until you become one with the controls and steering of the bike.

Read all the threads in the sub-forum Riding Skills.

Read the articles in this link:

http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=102129

Be aware: Black bike, jacket and helmet make you invisible for car drivers.

Yea I've looked it up and its booked like crazy till the end of the summer so I'm thinking I'll still sign up but I can't wait to ride that long, my grandpa has had 3 harleys and has been riding forever so hes kinda training me and giving me solid tips and things to practice.

I had the same exact color and year for my first which I bought in Feb '12. Beautiful bike enjoy it. Do consider traveling a little further from home if you can find an MSF course that is available sooner. I had experience when I took the course and I learned more in that weekend than I had in the 20 or so previous times that I had ridden on my own.

Nice deal on the bike! Cool that he threw in some gear too.

I recommend practicing your panic (emergency) braking and low speed maneuvering in a parking lot or something to get used to the bike.

Also highly recommend reading A Twist of the Wrist 2 by Keith Code to better understand motorcycle dynamics and really important stuff like "survival reactions". Great book.
