Another insurance question
Ok guys i know theres plenty of threads out there asking how much you pay for insurance on your ninja. Im more wondering if you have a bigger bike what the insurance is. I pay 120ish a year on my 250 with just liability, 300 for full coverage. For 600s and greater i was quoted anywhere from 800 to 1100 a year full coverage. Does that sound a little crazy?? One car accident on my license, but my car insurance only went up a little bit, so i dont think thats really killing me. Im 26 with a house in a good area as well, and i took the MSF course last year. Im considering a larger bike but not if the insurance is crazy, ill just mod the 250 for now.

Just for some perspective, I paid $455 for bare-minimum insurance for the year. Full coverage (for my 250) would probably be close to what you were quoted for a 600cc bike. Also, I have a flawless driving record. For what it's worth, $800-1100 sounds a bit high, but nothing extremely unreasonable.

Yeah, had some crazy quotes, most with collision added want close to 1000 if not more.
I have everything but collision, 100/300 thru Geico for 330 a year. Been the same price since 05 on my r1. |

The real issue is if i buy a larger bike ill have finance it so ill need collision on it. My 250 is paid off, but for the 15 extra a month ill put collision back on when riding season comes since ill still use it the most i think

Im paying $360/yr with coverage pretty much maxed out, and thats with progressive.(I use usaa for everything else but they dont offer motorcycle insurance)
I was getting quotes for a bigger bike recently and was honestly kinda shocked. I was looking at the BMW f800R, the Triumph street triple R and the Ducati monster 796. The BMW and the Triumph were both over $2k/yr. The Ducati was just under $1k/yr. Im 23, male, military, no accidents or tickets on my record FWIW. Ill probably be going with the Ducati, Cheapest of the bikes Im looking at and the insurance is less than half of what the others are. I don't understand how they come up with their prices sometimes. I think it involves someone who is blindfolded throwing darts at a dartboard with values on it. lol

My 650 is 200 cheaper per year than my 250. Kawi dropped the "R" which I think is making the difference

Huge difference in prices here, I guess I should consider myself lucky.
I am paying $200 a year for full coverage with a $100 deductible for my 250.

I was quoted about $850 for the 2012 650 I'm getting in 3 weeks. Includes collision, comprehensive, and total loss coverage with a $500 deductible. Progressive has been the cheapest by far of all the places I've looked.
