Valve Shims questions

Guys, I am working on my valves. I went to the dealership where they offer a shim swapping, basically they take the shims you don't need and give you the shims you want at a lower price compaer to getting new shims. However, they didn't give me new shims and they are not from the Ninja 250. I took it home, measured the thickness to make sure they are what I want and they seems fit well as the OEM shims. My question is the manual said do not use the shims from other models. Should I order new oem shims for the valve job everytime or it will just works fine? Thanks a lot~~~~

if it's same size & correct thickness you're good. The manual is typed up by a secretary who just graduated from highschool with a C average....serious, if the dude was smart, won't you expect him to be a surgeon or something?

Sure makes you wonder about the quality of after markets shims. When you can get 5 for a dollar...... and oem shims cost 10 -11 dollars each.

Hardness of the cheap shim is in question for me.

Got it man, thanks a lot and I saw the source for a good set of aftermarket shims from the DIY thread.
