+1 I flushed out the stock coolant and replaced with engine ice. Even at 90 deg. F outside temp sitting at a red-light the bikes temp never goes into the red zone. Great stuff.

Wouldn't regular coolant do the same...?

FYI- whatever coolant you use, DO NOT use tap water in the mix. Tap water in most areas includes minerals that will quickly clog up an aluminum radiator. Use only DISTILLED water (not bottled water or spring water).

In case you are wondering, I did learn this the hard way.

Ideally you never mix any 2 different coolants. http://www.engineice.com/faq.html

I'm not sure what the stuff cost but know that regular coolant/antifreeze will work just fine. It has till now right?

My bad. Your right...

Let me rephrase. Since you choose to use this product. Is there any scientific benefit to it over regular coolant?

I use engine ice because it is legal coolant for every racing orgination I have checked. It dose not get slippery when it spills on the track . Even when I spill it on the floor it evaporates without a trace. They say it works better because it decreses the serface pressure or somthing. If you have over heating issues there is another problem. So no it does not make any difference what you use. Not mixing is a good idea.

To flush put a pan under the bike with the left fairing off. There is a 10mm bolt under the pipes at the bottom of the engine. Look careful and you will see the brown washer under it.that is a seal don't loose it. With the radiator cap off you remove that bolt. Then at the front of the engine there is an 8mm bolt .That will drain the rest.

Look at how much you took out mesure it in a jug or something. Then make sure you put that much back in. You might have to put some in then warm up the bike some and add the rest.

Be sure to recycle the old antifreeze .

Okay, guys I got my engine ice sitting at the garage, I removed the old coolant and I'm ready to put the "ice", but I have a question, do I really need to put water to flush the old small amount of coolant away? or can I just pour my engine ice into the coolantthing w/o doing the water thing? also should I do this only on the reservoir or should I do this to the radiator too? thanks.

I would advise flushing both the radiator and the reservoir bottle with distilled water prior to filling.

You should be able to find it just about anywhere that sells gallon size bottled water. I think is about $.60 a gallon at WalMart.

@dubo I got it at wallmart and it's like $.83 , but I'm glad I did put some water first and flushed the old coolant out, cause there were still tons inside.

BTW theres nothing wrong with regular antifreeze. If your overheating you have other issues as RacerX stated.
