Question chain lube frequency

Hi

I have a question about the suggested frequency of lubing the chain

my bike's chain seems a little dry. but it looks clean

can i just lube it or is it suggested to clean it before lubing?

i bought it with only 900 kms (600 miles)

what's a normal frequency without seeming OCD

Every 500 miles is the best and what other suggest. If your at the track or doing something more hardcore, probably each time you go out. But for daily driving every 500.

I clean mine every 1500 miles and lube every 500. But if there is alot of dirt wipe it off first then lube.

I clean and re-lube mine every full gas tank, around 200 miles.

I usually do every two fill-ups or 400-500 miles.

I do it every other weekend which amounts to about 400 miles. If you have a rear stand and a grunge brush the cleaning goes pretty quickly. Usually takes me 20 min max to clean and lube. Just remember to warm the chain before cleaning to soften the dirt and grime a bit.

my point was that you lube the chain when it needs lube. theres no exact milage. if you live in the rain, you're going to be lubing it probably every day. in the desert with sand storms, you'll probably be cleaning it every other day. it depends. is the chain nasty? clean it. does it not have clean new lube on it? lube it.

I do mine every 500 miles. Clean, lube, wax. It doesn't get a chance to get too dirty, but it isn't super clean either.

Lube when the chain is warm or you end up with gunk collecting on your _____ (fill in the blank, @alex.s ). Ask me how I know.

I suck at part names.

I used to visit kawiforums.com but their Ninja 250 department, if you will, isn't so alive.
