Street Justice

I was riding to get lunch today and I was behind a red sedan whose driving was less than stellar. I could see from his side view that his face was pointed down at his phone. At three stoplights in a row I had to honk at him to get him to go. When there was finally a 2 lanes so I could pass I ended up next to him at a red light. I looked at him with his face buried in his phone. His window was open and I contemplated slapping the phone out of his hand or grabbing it and throwing it, but I pussed out and just rode off. I got to thinking about that one video where the cager threw out some garbage and a motorcycle grabbed it and threw it back in, street justice. Next time I'll be sure to serve irresponsible cagers and have it on camera

I threw an empty water bottle in someone's car as they tried to merge on top of me, after I was already trying to move out of the way, honking, and screaming at them in stopped rush hour traffic. That got their attention. It was a girl that looked like she was 16 texting and blasting music. I scared the bejesus out of her and good riddance.

16 year olds are honestly one of the biggest hazards on the road.

I don't bother age-stratifying. Inattentive drivers are one of the biggest hazards on the road.

and what percentage of 16 year olds are inattentive drivers? my guess would be around 95%.

ha, if there was one thing I paid attention to on the road when I was new, it was bikes. Then I bought one

I never really was a distracted driver because I've been on the roads on a bicycle for so darn long before I was able to get my drivers license. I had the whole survival instincts thing down early, and that included being aware of what was going on around me.

I agree. But to me the real question is what percentage of inattentive drivers are 16? I'd say it's a relatively small percentage. Idiocy has no favorite age.

The last thing I'm gonna do is piss someone off who is driving a vehicle... I don't need them coming after me and trying to run me off the road. Does it bother me that people are inatentive... of course... but not to the point where I would put myself in danger

I dont see the logic behind knowing the answer to that question. Knowing that the majority of young Drivers are inattentive is useful for identifying hazards. Knowing what percentage of inattentive drivers are of a young age provides no useful information.

Yesterday a terrible driver glued to their phone got me nearly to the point of chewing them out at a stoplight.
But then I somehow remembered a friend had posted this picture to her facebook wall that morning.

And I decided that I don't know what types of issues that person is dealing with right now.
Granted, they shouldn't be on the road, but I didn't want to make their day any worse than it already was.

Not typically, but I have been finding that it's better to give people a little extra grace rather than initially assuming the worst.

I also find that reacting to whatever stupidity they did and then moving on and forgetting it allows me to enjoy the rest of my day vs raging about it for the rest of the time.

Too much of a live and let live attitude but it keeps me out of fights I know I will lose.
