Our 250 is being ridiculed thread....

Browsing CL and saw this ad...
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/n...823703742.html

And replied to his ad...
'Do you know a Ninja 250 can go 95mph and can outrun you S40 anytime and everytime? So, do your research before posting.'

And he came back with...
'People grow out of the 250 ninja very quickly - or at least they should. The s40 has about 2.5x the engine - I'm sorry if you're still riding such a small bike'

And my final response (hopefully)...
'Funny, who's selling the bike? I'm sorry that you have outgrown your slow bike hahaha.
HD will get you there faster hahaha. I hope you did your research this time. Drive safely out there!'

Cruiser 250s, atleast to my knowledge, are not as quick as Ninjette's. Maybe when he mentioned a 250cc in his ad, he was referring to something like a rebel.

You're trolling somebody's CL ad what do you expect? Yes, I don't agree with his description, but it's an ad not a discussion forum.

flynjay's got the idea here. That dude's obviously never ridden a ninja 250, nor does he have the urge to ride one. Let him go. It's his ad to sell his wife's bike so that they can get a new toy.

My bad but couldn't help it slam on him. One lesser misinformed dude out there. Why can't he just describe his wife's bike as it is and not ridicule something else.
I'm bored and CL or Ebay kills my time.

Never argue with idiots. First they drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

I have never had anyone say anything bad about my bike to my face yet.

Had a couple of "Wow, is that a 600?", "Nice Dukati!", and a "Cool bike, but I like Gixxers better" (that was from some guy who was on a beat up bicycle wearing one shoe).

One guy correctly identified my bike as a Ninja 250, and said "These bikes are awesome".

But generally, its all compliments, and people asking questions about it, that I dont mind answering

Lots of people will say stuff over the internet that they wouldn't say to your face in the real world. You can't debate with that kind of mentality. Interestingly, I get nothing but compliments on my 250. It's funny because almost everyone thinks it's a "500" or "600", etc - even a couple of other riders did not peg it as a 250. Like koenigcitizen said, the one or two people who knew it was a 250, had great things to say about it!

I think it has a lot to do with maturity and respect for other people. Some jerks just don't have either!

His reply was much more polite than mine would have been. He didn't say a Ninja 250, and having ridden my dad's Nighthawk 250, he has a good point. I doubt the Rebel 250 is a very engaging ride, either. Go ride a 20hp bike on the highway in 70 MPH traffic a couple of times and you'll outgrow it pretty fast, too.

The Ninjette is overly capable for its size, not many other 250s are near as capable. Even the newest kid on the block, the CBR, falls behind the Ninjette at higher speeds. This bike compares favorably to similar bikes with a 250cc motor, that is, air cooler motors on a cruiser. Yeah, it's pretty pokey compared to a liquid cooled sportbike like the ninjette, but people looking at a bike like this don't want a sportbike anyways. Again, compare this to a Rebel 250 or a Nighthawk 250 and it's a much more capable bike.

Lots of people outgrow a small bike fast. Nothing wrong with that. And his ad wasn't really insulting your bike, from that point of view. He's just trying to sell his bikes, and if you're so thin skinned about your bike that you actually needed to send him an email to defend your bike, you've got the motorcycle version of little man's syndrome in a big way.

Spend less time worrying about Craiglist ads and go for a nice ride instead.

Well said, Bill, and exactly what I was thinking. My soon to be ex-wife's TU250 is a ridiculously fun ride on tight, twisty backroads. I could see it being great in an urban setting with 40 mph maximum speeds. It sucks on four-lane divided highways.

The Ninja 250 is the exception to the rule.
