Blue Ridge Parkway 8.30.09

So NJD022588, Momaru and myself went riding through Floyd County and on the Blue Ridge Parkway today - just shy of 100 miles with my husband and munchkin bringing up the rear and snapping pictures from time to time. We got to see some kind of neat things including a local winery that is always a fun trip and was having a festival today, and a car show on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere

It was also really neat to see the differences in the mods we've made. My bike still has the stock exhaust and is lowered an inch with the Corbin seat added to it, and I've installed extra signals and HIDs. Momaru has the 18" Area P and has had Tim powder coat his rims, and has added the BikeMonkey tail light with some halogen bulbs. NJD022588 has added clip-ons and rearsets (Woodcraft I think), and the 15" Area P exhaust with stock headlights and a completely removed fender and LED turn signal strips. Without further ado, some pictures

And some headlight comparisons:
HID, stock, halogen

Left to right: stock, HID, halogen

And a couple of pics to see the difference in position between stock and the rearsets/clip ons, and to showcase the beautiful sunset this evening...

And there are even more pics here:

Nice pictures. The comparisons help me to determine what route to go with modifications if any.

So pretty. I grew up in NC, and though California is nice, those pics make me miss my home state.

Thanks for sharing.

Sorry Sunny; if it's any consolation we were on the far south end of the VA-section of the BRP. Would've been a reeeally long ride just to get to us. Would've been nice to have you down and swing the Blue:Black balance even further our way though

Tim did a great job with the paint match on the rims, very happy with 'em. They're both a joy and a pain to keep clean of brake dust, etc.

A note on the headlights: I'm riding with some halogens that seem to have been color-coated to get a 'purer' white at cost of brightness. I know there are good, bright halogens out there. These are NOT them. Mine are even dimmer than stock yellows, as the picture shows. All three of us had our highbeams on for the comparison shots. I'll post branding to soon as I find the case.

Edit: Brand is "Xtreme Vision", 8500k Xenon lamps, purchased by the previous owner. Haven't burned out in 8k miles, but still not great lighting

Nice pics, mods, etc.

I'm looking forward to a weekend or two ride in the GA/TN/NC mountains as soon as the leaves start to change, might have to make it a couple of motorcycle camping weekends.

Thanks for the bump - too bad I won't be riding anytime soon because of my "bump"
