Bike swapping for a week

I asked my buddy here at work if we can switch ride with his FZ6 with my Ninja for a week. Is it a good idea? I ride way way more than him so I'm a little bit hesitant. I don't have collision coverage on mine and wondering what happens if I crash his bike or vice versa. Any idea?

Are you looking to upgrade to a FZ6 or higher bike? I wouldn't let anyone ride my bike or vice versa, not for a week unless it was my significant other. If anything happens then you would possibly be held responsible for the purchase of a FZ6.

if they aren't registered and insured on the bike, they shouldn't ride it, PERIOD.
i don't let anyone touch my vehicles unless i'm sitting with them, it's not worth the risk IMO.
Not only for the money issue if something goes wrong, but it can also create some really bad relations.

I called my insurance to find out the real answer and the customer rep said that YOUR insurance follows YOUR bike. If my friend crashes MY bike then it will be covered by MY insurance and vice-versa.

Bike swapping is like wife (g/f) swapping, if you're moving up, do it! Don't be disappointed when you have to swap back though.

yes, but if he totals your bike, since YOUR insurance covers YOUR bike, guess who's insurance premium will most likely spike? yours.

But usually the punchline is less entertaining.

If you ride a FZ6 for a week, you'll never be happy going back to the 250. I thought I would keep my bike after I got my FZ6 this weekend. My ninja is now up for sale.

The FZ6 is a great next step up from a 250.

I wouldn't let my wife or my significant other ride my bikes, truck, or skateboard.

If you want to be responsible, no, never ride your buddies bike or let him ride yours.

Of course I'm still young so therefore I raise hell. I was ecstatic every time my friend let me take his R6 out. He wadded it up unfortunately. Shame, as if he opened his eyes it could have been avoided.
