Royal Enfield

I don't know about you, but I love the styling. The closest dealer to me is in Austin. It would be a nice drive/ride to go get parts.

I'd love to get one, just not sure about spending 6k on a bike like this. Still looks really cool. I'm a big fan of this style of bike. Much like I am of the old Norton Commando.

There was an old one needing restoration in the Craigslist somewhere near me a while ago, think they wanted like $3000.

Not as much, they switched powerplants in some of the models where you don't need to open it up like an old bike. Check out the new Cycle World for a write up on it.

Love the looks of the RE. Current issue of Cycle World was not kind. CW is usually spot on.

Yeah, RE runs singles in their bikes.

Not to mention one of the only bikes that still run tubed tires.

Came across some pictures of the new for 2010 RE Classic. Fuel injected 500cc single to meet european EPA standards. Not sure if this the model tested in CW as I haven't read it. But sure is sweet looking. Me likey. Rumour has it, it might be coming to North America. Depending on pricing might be a nice modern classic to have in the garage. Hhmmm....

The original Bonneville was a 650cc Twin with twin carbs.

I had a '95 Enfield 500 for a couple of years. Fun little hobby bike - if you're handy with a screwdriver and wrench. I enjoyed it, but eventually got tired of spending almost as much time on maintenance as on riding.

I hope the newer ones are more reliable...

Do love the looks and the nostalgia. Rode mostly British bikes from 1958 to 1970. It would certainly be an easy bike to maintain since it is so simple. It would be a great second bike/commuter--nothing I would take on an Interstate or Freeway. Definitely a retro-bike.
