Then the 300 is not the smallest available, and therefor not a Ninjette (and the Kaw website still shows the NewGen 250 as an available model here in the US - or are they just "leftover" 2012 250's???).

But let's not let ourselves get wrapped around the axle... I'm anxious to get my hands on the 300 (whatever we end up calling it - and my vote goes for calling it a "doublenaught" [use the 3 prefix if you must but not necessary until they make a 200????] because of the FI (and the increased HP) and the ABS.

Yes, the 250R bikes that are still available here are leftover 2012 bikes (says 2012 at the top of the page if you click). The 2013 EX250L looks exactly like an EX300, which is what I meant by them having as much in common with each other as the EX250J and EX250K "newgens" had between themselves.

Yeah, this whole thread is silly, but I'm all in.

Nope. Only in markets where they can't sell the 300 to the same buyers (graduated licensing, displacement limits, etc). But we are an international forum so it will be discussed over the years. We discussed it plenty after the Indonesian launch event, before the 300 was announced.

They're first, second and third gen. How can that be so complicated?

Because they AREN'T first, second, and third gen. Lots of people on these forums have EX250E, which is before what you are calling "first gen" and even more have EX250H, which is between what you call "first" and "second gen." Also, the 2013 EX300A/B is the *first* gen Ninja 300, though the related 2013 EX250L is at least the fifth gen EX250. A name for the FI 2013 Ninjette, be it EX250 or EX300, must apply to either and it can't do that with a numeric generational designation.

If there was anything in the EX250 series before the EX250E then it was before the "Ninja" line officially existed, so it doesn't need a name because it's not a Ninjette.

The Internet has-many-ways to say "a lot."

Over 9,000.
Many.
A few.
Several.
One Metric Asston.

Anyway, no matter how similar, a first gen 300 can't be a 3rd-gen 250, so we can't just ignore the outliers even if they are comparatively few.
