Damn, seems crazy. I know I'm older than you a and NYC is probably more expensive than Boston but I have one speeding ticket on my record and still pay less than half. The insurance company that I use for my cars and houses doesn't do bike policies so I just got a quote from Progressive online and that's the # I got without any kind of muti-line discount. You should at least give it a try.

I'm with progressive! That's the lowest rate I got out of all the companies I checked. I also have a CLEAN RECORD and am 25. WTF!

I don't know what the hell that's about. Maybe there's a lot of claims coming from NYC, sometimes it's all about the statistics and not you personally. I found Progressive to be a lot cheaper than GEICO actually.

Seems about right for them, they quoted me $400/mth for my 2002 Honda Accord. That lizard must be making a killing.

They've got to pay for all those commercials. The selling of insurance reminds me of the selling of perfumes. It is all about marketing, packaging and product differentiation, when underneath there isn't really much difference between a value product and a premium product. I'm just waiting for the days of celebrity endorsements of insurance. Buy Brittney Insurance by Geico (insert steamy pose here), and you'll get more sex for the premium.

28! I haz all da insurance!

Seriosuly though, translating that to europe, I have health insurance up to millions seperate to my bike insurance, that's still insurance so I counted it, my cover is up to several million pounds worth of cover on everything mentioned, it costs me £35 ~ $57 a month.

Liability: 50/100/25
Uninsured/Underinsured: 50/100/25
Medical Payments: None
Comprehensive: Yes
Collision: Yes
Accessory: $3000
Total Cost Per Year: $322

Summary: My insurance should be cheaper but I have a DUI on my record, so it doubles it from what it should be. When I was living in Cali they wanted 20/month just for liability (10/month before the DUI) and something like 170/month for full coverage, now that I live next to D.C. they only want 25/month for full coverage, go figure.

my commute is 5 miles.
IMO, track riding is way more fun than riding on street. well doesn't even compare to be honest.

i don't wanna waste money on insurance just to ride on street like 50 miles per month

How the hell did you get coverage that good that cheaply? When I was shopping around, the best I could find for that level of coverage was closer to $250 per month. Is it just insuring four bikes on the same policy getting you a massive discount or something? Teach me your ways!

Liability: $1mil/$2mil/$500,000
Uninsured/Underinsured: $1mil/$2mil

Total Cost Per Year: $1068 ($89/month) post speeding tickets, was around 800 before

Average Points/Bike: 28, or whatever the max is if I messed up my math

I am an insurance whore hahaha it pays to have a dad who formerly worked for state farm

I discovered that I could cut my costs down to around 100/year with rider insurance but I like my mad coverage and would be brought down to 250/500 liability/uninsured. the reason for the maxed liability is to have access to the max uninsured. My '01 N250 was $35/month $420/year for the exact same coverage when it was roadworthy.
