Air Pressure Gauge, which type to get?

I usually went to the Shell near my house to check my tire pressures because they were the only gas station that gave air for free but since they closed down I do not want to pay 75cents every time to check if i need air or not.

What type of gauge do you guys use? the pen one or all of the other various types. I am looking for something that doesnt feel like cheap plastic and I have a fear that those give inaccurate readings.

Ty for reading/contributing

I thought CA state law offered free air when ever you used the gas portion of the gas station....

I'm using this one since this is the one I bought for my car. Very accurate. http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/detail.jsp?ID=11

I'm using this one from Cycle Gear. Easy to fit on the valve. It too is very accurate.

I've had a really cheap $5 one that I've used for over 15 years. It is very consistent and accurate. The big thing is to buy one and check it against a known correct guage.

CA law is that the air is free, you just have to tell the attendant to turn it on. If you pay, they won't stop you, and they don't advertise it's free, but it is! I just found this out like 6 months ago. Now I just walk in and ask them to "please turn the air on" and walk out

LOL, here in NZ, the air is free at all gas stations, even BP and Mobil have the air on when the gas station is closed.

At QuikTrip, where I get my gas from, they have free air. They just don't have the gauges on them. Besides, I like to have my own gauge...

what about stuff like this?
http://hobbies-leisure.drleonards.co...y=17199200.cfm

you'd still need a gauge for filling tires but this would let you know when its around that time.

I'm not a big fan of gauges because it'll tell you you need air, but then what? I keep a rechargeable pump beside my bike and after every coupla rides/weather change while I warm up the bike, I'll check it and pump as needed. And for long trips I can either take it with me or swap it out with the cigarette adapter.

helps that I got it on sale for $20 though.
