Here it is sitting next to a ZX-10R. Externally, they look more similar than one might expect. Sure, those familiar with bikes can pick out the differences from a mile away, but that's not the general public.

Caps, what happened to the front cowl? Yikes!

That's the appeal of the redesigned 250. It looks so much larger than it really is. If your mom needs convincing, tell her that 1st on the 250 gets up to ~20mph and on the 600 it gets up to ~80mph. Of course this varies depending on gearing but you get the idea.

Might look bigger in the pictures but if you go look at them at a dealer, the 250R's definitely look smaller. You can spot them from the front door

675 is about the same length and the 250 has a wider rear. Easiest way to spot a 250 is the rear tire size and single front brakes.

main differences from the 250 to the bigger bikes is width.. height is pretty much the same. sit on the 250 then the 600 and youll notice right away the tank is much wider.

And you'll know it's a 250 from the back. it looks really skinny, and the tires give it away too

Go to a local dealer and sit on one... It's what I did when I was considering buying a Ninja 250... Honestly the first time I sat on it I thought it was pretty big considering the only bike I had ever sat on before was a YBR 125. Now I'm perfectly accustomed to it and I never want to get off it lol!.

Heck, half the time when I see a new-gen vs a ZX6R/ZX10R on the road, the only way I can tell them apart at a moment's glance is by the color.

Well, the single headlight tends to give it away too... although a couple other Kawi models use the same headlight

If I were you, I'd definitely go try to see one in person....I thought they were pretty small too until I saw one. Granted, like C L said, you can spot them from the door and there are noticeable differences like Alex stated, if you know what to look for. BUT standing next to it, I went from feeling it might feel 'scooterish' and 'pocket sized' to being surprised at how big it was. Life-sized even?

Bring her to a dealer. The ninja looks smaller in real life, but it's not a significant size. I know, I sat on one that was next to a ZX-10R yesterday.
