Jon's Current Cognitive Functioning:

Person is able to follow increasingly difficult commands. Although they may remain confused about the events because of continued memory problems, they generally do not confabulate or make-up answers. Instead they will respond with "I don't know". Memory for events and information learned before the injury is returning although memory for recent events remain poor. The person is able to work toward a desired goal with less step-by-step indtructions.

They are no longer agitated or combative although they may continue to voice extreme complaints to even minor discomfort. The person shows improving but still impaired attention skills. They may know where they are, the date and information about themselves. They are often beginning to understand their injuries and deficits, but still do not have full awareness and may attempt unsafe things. They may be very fixated on returning home, work or school.

Jonathan's appt. went well this morning. they titrated his baclofen pump 50% but did not do botox. he goes back in two weeks to titrate again and do the botox. got to see the old dr.'s too.

Thanks Kim - you have to wonder if somewhere in those neurons return to riding is lurking.

Great news no matter what.

looking good. The belly always heals before the rest...

Today--Lori Broom -doing great this evening. jon wanted in the frontroom instead of his bedroom and actually was hungry. he ate more than usual for dinner. had a blessed afternoon with him and i can see something changing in him today. very good day!!!!!!24 minutes ago

Today--Lori Broom -jon feels better today. dr. thinks rash is okay and not from meds. will be changing his soap and detergent though. doing an eeg to check for seizure activity and if cleared she will take him off the keppra. Awesome news. health wise he is doing good and she is pleased with his progress.5 hours ago ·

Tuesday- Lori Broom --Jon still needs help sitting and standing. He needs surgery on his knees before he can try to walk so it will be quite some time. He sits up with help for balance and security, it still scares him that he is going to fall. Length of time up has gotten longer and less screaming. He can't type yet but I'm hoping tha...t will come soon. He still gets confused and his short term memory is still very bad. Progress has been remarkable it just is taking a long time! Keep up the prayers....

I've read a few of Jon's many posts from earlier threads and have visited his Flickr site a few times. I am a fan of his creative talents and I admire the time, design and effort he and his crew did to race prep the Ninja.

Jon, good luck buddy. I know you will pull through.

the ortho doctor says we have to wait 4 more months before he'll be ready for surgery. the calcium growing in the muscles of his knees has not matured enough. at least it is not growing to other parts of the body. his weight is down again and he's easily aggitated. not sure this new medication for anxiety is working. suppose to get his new wheel chair tomorrow afternoon. hopefully he's alot more comfortable in it that the one he's in now.

being pretty new to the forum i dont know jon... what is his screen name on here? (maybe i do know him?)

however getting to read the recent good news, makes me happy. he seems like he has made VERY good progression sense the time of his accident, im sure with time he will be pretty close to normal (any type of accident will change a person....)

it makes me very sad that it happend, but very happy to read that he is doing much better.

get well soon man!

Lori Broom posted today!! : Jon took 3 steps with his right leg today by himself. He was in a standing frame and the therapist was moving his feet for him. I got in front of him and encouraged him to concentrate and he did it. Was so exciting! Even tho his knees are swollen and it hurts like hell he took those steps and then just smiled! Eve...ryone there was cheering him on! The thought process alone to move his leg is huge! Such a proud mom!
