Rider Riding 2-Up: Some Observations

I've been riding two-up w/ @imataiwanezz a bit lately and thought of how immensely useful it'd be to have passenger handles on the tail and then remembered (through many-a sleepless nights of research) that the cbr250 had them! I got the chance to go to a honda dealership lately (originally for their parts/accessory dpt) and swung by their 250s to check 'em out and their passenger handles were surprisingly pretty solid & sturdy.

i haven't ridden 2-up since i came into temporary possession of my current bike but a couple things i noticed about riding 2-up since becoming a rider myself are...:

1 - i learned (thanks @imataiwanezz ) that leaning past the rider and pushing against the gas tank is sooo much easier and even seems safer vs holding onto the rider where both people are subject to each others movements. (is this not common knowledge? b/c my previous 2-up buddy never suggested i should do such a thing )

2 - i'm a lot more comfortable doing certain things such as let go one hand maybe if need be b/c i'm more knowledgeable of how a motorcycle moves and behaves.

3 - i like to grab the tail-end when braking (so as to not shove @imataiwanezz violently further into the gas tank , but noticed and not liking how the ninja's plastic caves pretty easily under my grip. :\ (the cbr250's surprisingly sturdy&solid)

Sooo..., what do you guys think about drilling some holes and installing some of these under there?

You're welcome You know also part of the reason bracing against the tank is nice is so you don't need to grab the tail end right? It requires a little more upper body but when you feel me coming to a stop you brace against/push back against the tank to keep yourself from sliding forward, applying equal and opposite force (yay newton).
2 makes me laugh idk why lol

With out something solid to mount the handles to I think it would just break the plastic.

Just off the top of my head, I was thinking perhaps a couple nylon straps (or something similar) around the sub-frame and up and out under the passenger seat.

Seems like it would work, plus you could just flip them under the seat when not in use, and there is no drilling into the sexy bodywork.

You're right. Idk what I was thinking

Though I do believe honda's got one over kawi on this one. It's a smart design w/ the rider(s?) in mind. I wish the ninja had passenger handles integrated stock now...

actually, if you were to get a drimmel and gut a small area from tail fairings, you could bolt bars to the subframe if you would like to. i wouldnt do so but its your bike!

You could install passenger handle bars. It's pretty likely they have them for the 250 since it's so popular.

Honda CBR bars:

Edit: Doy, looks like they don't make them. Although european ninjas may have an optional oem handle bar that goes on the sides.

Ingenius! I like how one of the comments on zx-10r is "I have never seen these before heh...I must live under a rock or something" because that's how I feel lol

I ride with my wife as a passenger all the time, and she is just too short to reach the gas tank. She always holds on to the passenger grab bars, and it works out beautifully

But all the more reason... C'mon Kawi! x0

I'll add this one to the list of things I'd like to see change in the ninjette to make it even more awesome. >_>
