Will YOU pass the British motorcycle theory test?

It dawned on me that 99% of questions here regarding if you should use both brakes, engine braking, safest techniques etc are all outlined in the british highway code, and you're tested on this before you are allowed to take your practical test, so, will you pass a mock test?

Don't know most of the road signs they use but I still got 42 right.

I got one more we don't have half those signs here for the most part so I am unaware of most of them also, but we take the uk test because we share a lot in common.

I am not looking forward to doing my theory, if it asks stupid questions and about strapping kids to a car seat or motorways I am screwed.

I just got a 41 out of 50, not passing, but not bad for someone who has never been out of the state. Half of the signs we do not have here in U.S.

39 out of 50, some wrong were sign related, some were other signals (ie flashing head lights means "Turn yours down" or "Go ahead") the rest were trying to remember what side of the road UK drives on.

Got 40/50 in 6 minutes. I'd say being 3 questions off from passing without ever leaving North America isn't bad at all.

Didn't know any of the random terms (lorries, trams, soft verges, etc?), random signs, and I had to think about right vs left because it's backwards, and when when asked about being dazzled by oncoming traffic, where was my option to 'ignore it and ride like normal'?

Overall, that seemed like a fair test. Let me find the OH one to get your temporary permit and see if any of you Brits can pass that one.

EDIT: you need to pay to take the practice test for OH. Not going to link that.

SECOND EDIT: For us in OH, we have to take the written test to get our temporary permit. That's something like 20 questions. Then, you have to either take the safety course or take the tests at the BMV (both include a written test and a riding course). It's pretty simple.

They rotate the questions from a massive llibrary of them so every time you take it it's different.

I am interested to see the ones people disagree with! If you think "hey that's not right!" Please let us jnow the question, your answer and the questions answer, also if you failed any, please post them!

This test will cost me $50 every time I have to take it, so I really don't want to get it wrong!

In my Ohio test, half the questions were about DUIs, points lost for infractions, licensing procedures, etc. Pretty lame. Should be about riding/driving.

**sidenote** The test HAD TO BE completed on a computer. This 90 y/o lady flipped the hell out. lol **

They're on computer here, but it's all touch screen and they have training if you need it.

Little more than, touch the amount of correct answers it's asking for then click next, when done click finish.

That's the same as the test for getting your learners permit for a car as well. They assume that you're not only testing on the basics of that vehicle, but on the basics of the road and the road laws as well. Both tests have the same basic questions of DUI/points/road laws, but they differ based on the vehicle. It's pretty darn easy to get a learners permit for any vehicle in OH.

Brown signs are tourist information signs, blue signs are mandatory information signs, like minimum speed and diabled parking etc.

Discovered? What was it hiding under a rock?

Invented or created is the word you're looking for, and as such have full licence to do to it what they please as it's their language, some guys start speaking it and changing it somewhere else it's a bastardised version, not a perfectly legitimate alternative, and when the guys that bastardised the original turn round and say "that's weird!" No it's not, it's how it's suppsed to be, take your frankenenglish and do one!

Face it your the minority now, the English language is ours.
We didn't bastardise it, we made it understandable.

You can speak your crazy language in the privacy of your own home...
But whilst in the public you shall speak Southern American English!!!!

The theory test is pretty easy. Practical part-1 is relatively easy. Practical part-2 is a little more difficult, but it depends on the examiner (mine was easy). The hazard avoidance test is really difficult. Stupid in my opinion.

I guess we speak a language that should be called 'American', not 'English'. It's like German from Germany and German from Austria. Same language, but just different enough that the other sounds funny when you know one way.
