remove the stickers... you can always just get replacements from Kevin on this board. it would be too much work and spoil your paint job to try and paint around them.

You can mask off the logos, but the problem is that the paint will start peeling at all those masked edges. Number one rule of painting anything, avoid mask lines if at all possible. Paint should wrap around all edges with no breaks.

To do a durable and quality-looking paint job takes work, no shortcuts.

How I painted mine: http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=44144

The decals on the tank, at least on my '06, were under the clearcoat. This was done to protect them from gasoline spills. I ended up sanding them off to bare metal, priming, then repainting. IMHO I don't really see a way around this on clearcoated decals.

...or you could just leave those tank decals on, sand, prime and paint over those, then after you're done painting, order up a set of decals from Kevin who has a set that is just marginally larger than the original decal so it will cover them up. I covered the black lettering on my tank w/ white and after I was done, you can't tell there is any black lettering under it.

what if people love changing the color of their bikes from time to time?

i was just thinking after reading this thread about vinyl coverings..
