New petite/short girl rider in Canada

Hi all,
Thought I'd take a second and say hello. I'm a newbie rider, got my license in early may, and have a 2008 ninja 250R in candy plasma blue, named Jezebel.

I lowered her last week and plan to be riding as much as possible.

Loving Ninjette.org, that wiki is a godsend! Taught me how to lower the bike (and yup, i did it myself!).

Not sure if this is ok to post, but I did a lot of research into riding gear, bike mods, insurance, safety, etc, and a friend suggested I make a site for all the other petite women out there who might be interested in getting into riding.. so i did!

www.ridingjezebel.com

It's not just for petites, i also put DIY info for modifying your bike and doing maintenance, research on BC's private insurance companies, and of course, women's gear (because I had a hell of a time finding leathers). I even linked to Ninjette and other riding forums

Anyway, hope it's useful to some of you!

Lookin' good! Paint looks a bit dark for CP Blue. Sure it's not an '09, or is it just the lighting?

Also, I'm honestly kinda curious where in the heck did you found a bone stock with Dunlops that fresh? Did a dealer have some old stock on the floor?

Lol, I'm pretty sure I know the year of my bike.. I may be a girl, but c'mon!

And I bought her second hand from a guy who only rode her to commute from the island, she only had 5,000 miles on her (he imported her from the US), so that'd be the tires.

No offense intended, gender-discriminatory or otherwise. I knew someone that thought they had bought an '09 but was actually an '08. He'd not actually looked up the VIN or checked the sticker dates.

Nice find!

Not offended, no worries
pretty sure it's an '08. Didn't ask the guy if he changed the tires. He didn't seem to be much into riding so much as wanting a cheap way to commute. He hadn't done any mods to the bike, and I have a pretty long list of things I want to do to her when I get some moolah.

If you look at the wall to the left, you can tell the picture has too much contrast, which is likely why the bike looks darker.

I'm looking forward to the website as well, although I can't read it from work since the URL looks like a porn site to the firewall. LOL My wife is a short & petite girl and it's awesome to have a centralized list like that.

Sweet site. I like the layout and the colors are very pleasing. Well done, now I wonder if there will be a Tall riders compilation anywhere.

Site looks nice but you should have more of a front page mission statement. "this is who I am and why I created this site"

You might want to rethink the domain name though - unless that was intentional. Be honest

The domain name was completely intentional, and let's be honest, it piqued your interest enough to go look, so it did it's job.

There's an explanation as soon as you click on any of the posts, you'll see on the right a picture of me and a blurb about the site.

I took an amazing course that doesnt just teach you to pass the exam, it also teaches you survival techniques if you get in a pickle.

And always gear. ALWAYS. I kinda think if you're in shorts and a t-shirt you deserve the fate you get.

I disagree with the mission statement. Those types of "This is who I am and why I created this site" just brings back such awful awful memories of geocities.

It seems more professional to not talk about yourself.

Welcome! I just saw your site and it's a great one stop place for short riders although the navigation could be a little better.

You could also mention Dani Pendroza as inspiration for shorties since he is 5'2-3 @ 115lbs.

Thanks for the warm welcome from those of you who offered one. Not to sound catty, but I don't believe I asked for a critique of the site, i posted it to share a resource I've been building in the hope that it might prove useful. I dont care if a graphic design major doesn't like my font or whether some think there should be a mission statement. It's a labour of love and I made it to help the short people out there with a resource I wish I had had when I started looking in to riding. If it's not to your personal tastes, whatever, don't look at it, but don't criticize it either. Unless of course you'd like To go ahead and make one yourself and show me how it's done.

Well said jezebel. There are way too many people in this world that like to say "Iwould do it this way or that way" but never actualy go out and do it. It is much easier to say than to do. I applaud your efforts.
