I only have a 28" inseam and I lowered mine by an inch. I am still using my tip toes but not as stretched. At the lights, I just use my left foot to flat foot and put my right on the brakes with the bike slightly leaned. You will just have to get used to backing up with the bike in neutral while you are off the bike which is the only crappy part. Just remember that the more you lower it, the less you can lean. I did a pretty serious lean a few weeks ago and I scrapped the pegs - it was a scary feeling.

Question

So I will have to move my bike soon and since this is my first bike I obviously dk how, it will be going in a moving truck with everything else. Any suggestions? I looked it up a lil already>
I've heard of strap downs and putting it in gear and applying the front break and not using the kickstand for some reason. but I need some more info? should I try to put the bike in last? or try and put it between things? should I drain the remaining gas out of the bike or is that unnecessary? I don't have any straps, where and what kind should I need?

First off welcome...I am under 5 foot have a 09 250. I took 2 in off mine as well. I can almost flat foot , but I have rode before and I am good with this. I did read all the post but did you try softening the suspension some? They also make boots for us shorties that will give an about an inch maybe more they are over 300.00 a pair.

Do you know of a good replacement mirror with integrated blinkers for the 08+ ? I would love to have blinkers on the mirror like the gsxr.

Girrrr Gate

I haven't posted on here in a while but I ran into a situation today
situation probably isn't the right word that makes it sound serious and it's not it's just annoying..
My neighborhood is private and has a gate that you have to show your card to open the gate, well this gate is on a hill..... I'm only 5' like I said, I lowered my bike and I wear my boots that give me a good height but jeez is the gate annoying. I have to stop get my card out and wait for it to open. I'm sure someone has run into a hilly situation how do you normally handle it?
Honestly I don't need to use the gate I could roll up the sidewalk which is probably what I'm going to start doing I find that gate a waste of time on the bike esp when if there is a car in front of me I just tail them and don't even bother with the stupid card. Would be nice if they would consider motorcycles and find a solution. Anyways just a thought, least there's no speed bumps=]

I personally wouldn't do the sidewalk thing. It is illegal for bicycles to be on sidewalks, so I'm pretty sure it would be for motorcyles too. I have a gate for my apartment too and around 4 - 7pm they leave the gate open but cars still have to use their clicker(kind of like a garage clicker) to raise the arm. Since I'm on a bike, I just ride around the arm. The hardest part is leaving because the exiting gate opens only if there is a certain amount of weight and apparently mine plus my bike isn't enough. I normally exit out of the entrance side since that is the only way I can leave. You could try pulling up to the gate, putting the kickstand down, then pull out badge.

The maintenance people ride their golf carts on it, it's no a long side walk like maybe 10ft. I could kickstand it if I had to. My bike likes to get stuck in N tho and that happened today and made it even harder.
haha I forget that I can go around the bar when leaving here too.

Rock your bike forward a little and that should take care of the Neutral problem. I've had that happen more than I wanted and many times it has been embarassing because of the number of cars behind me honking.

When this happens, let the clutch out a little, and it will click right into gear. No harm to the bike.

Whatever you do, don't jam the shifter with your foot trying to get it in gear. That's a great way to parts in your transmission.

yeah i figured this out myself recently, wasnt sure if it was normal.
I just let the clutch out then pull it back in and I can get to first.

I ride with motorcross boots. They give excellent protection, support and are a bit taller in the sole. Fox Comp 5. They are pink which is cool and were $179 at Cycle Gear.

Thanks for the great tip. I'll try that if I get it stuck in between gears again.
