Ryan Burke had been racing for twenty years before he arrived at YCRS in early 2016. He could run some quick laps, but wasn’t happy with his consistency and safety record.

Last weekend, Ryan won five out of five MRA (Colorado) of the races he entered at High Plains Raceway, backing up another five-for-five the race before at Pikes Peak. Since our school, Team Burke has set six lap records.

“It was extremely hot this weekend,” Ryan tells us. “I’ve been continuously working on my body position since YCRS and this weekend it helped me preserve the tire. The other biggest help for me was how to break-down the corners, how to look at them technically. These two things became so evident with this hot weather, it was amazing.”

The Team Burke R6 blew up early in the weekend, so MRA New-Rider Director Jeff Brown loaned Ryan his 10-year-old R6. With only ten laps of practice, Ryan gridded and then won both his 600 races after down-to-the-last-corner battles.

And who got second in the Race of the Rockies main event? YCRS instructor Brad Hendry on the NOCO Racing machine out of Northern Colorado Powersports. Brad has instructed for YCRS for five years but is returning to roadracing after racing dirt bikes at a world level. “As I’m getting a handle on this 1000, I find myself returning to the core of what we teach at YCRS…the faster I go, the more these basics count.”

Why does this matter to you? Because no matter what or where you ride, YCRS will make you safer and more consistent at whatever pace you choose. Our instructors are living the two-wheeled life and want to share the Champions Habits that make riding so much fun.

We still have a few seats left in next week’s NJMP schools, our July school is filling quickly due to the AHRMA weekend immediately following, and we will end the NJMP season immediately after the NJMP MotoAmerica race weekend in September.
