Why is Rossi so bad now?

The guy basically pulled a Tiger woods. As soon as he went to Ducati he sucked a big butt. So anyone have speculations as to why he sucks?

Because everyone else has traction control now. He's still amazing. All those guys are amazing. But in comparison, he seems less god-like.

Thats crazy how rossi just rags on ducati in the article. Wow, never would have thought someone would blame a ducati for a slower time, shows how much work they put into all these prototype bikes. Winning a rice on your companies bike sure will sell a crap load of bikes for you.

A resume only show what you did in the past. Only thing that matter in racing is what you are doing right now.

It's because he didn't practice his low-speed skills.

Rossi obviously needs to start talking to "A" if he wants to improve.

I would disagree with this. At their level, it's just as much the bike as it is the rider, and putting an amazing rider on a POS bike against an amazing rider on an amazing bike isn't a real way to say "look how much worse that guy is!" Considering that Rossi was beating people on a still healing broken leg in 2010 in the last race of the season before switching over to ducati, and then immediately couldn't win anything and was even finishing behind satellite bikes (Like all the other Ducati riders), I'm personally inclined to believe that Ducati just doesn't know how to design a bike that suits Rossi's style. Sure Stoner managed to win a championship for Ducati once on the version from 5 years ago, but that hardly seems like proof that he's a better rider than Rossi

If this was moto2 and they were all practically on the same machine, I'd agree with you. But when none of the factory riders for ducati can contend at all despite being former champions on other brands, I think it's a bit absurd to say that the bike is up to par and it's just ****** riders holding it back.

First it is not Duke, that would be a KTM, it is a Duc.

He raced a Honda and Hayden was still beating him, way back when. He was a great rider, he needs to nut up and retire. Maybe go to World Rally?

Lol he is actually good at world rally! Idk if he should retire. This problem really did happen as soon as he moved to the ducati. Sucks for him though haha

Lol, actually Rossi did man up.

Quote:
Why could he, the man with nine world titles and widely regarded as one of the greatest racers of all time, not be competitive on the bike that Stoner had won three races on the previous season, and put on the podium at Valencia before handing it over to Rossi? "Casey rode this bike in a special way," Rossi answered every time. "I cannot ride this bike like that."
Fantastic read on the Rossi vs Ducati situation.

Duc is the only reason rossi sucks.

But it doesn't matter.

I'm a Casey Stoner fanboy.

He's been outclassed by Hayden who is riding the same bike in two races in a row so far. Can't blame it all on the bike if he ends up placing behind his teammate this season.

Imo Rossi has become the new Biaggi. Needs to simply stop bitching about stuff and admit maybe its him.

And yes I know we're talking about Rossi, but hes human and his ego is in the way of his riding atm. We all know hes faster than Hayden, yet hes losing to him, thats all the proof you need that its him not the bike. He's taking the easy way out by bitching, instead of taking a piece of **** and proving hes a bad ass (like he did with Yamaha)

I am an avid fan of motomatters and have read that article. I an unabashed Stoner fan, and while I don't find myself in the Rossi camp I hold no delusion about his talent, he was the most talented rider on the grid at one time. That time was before Stoner and Lorenzo moved into their own.

The reality is that Lorenzo was taking it to Rossi on equal terms on equal machines and going toe to toe prior to Rossi's injury, and Casey was scrapping with Rossi bringing a "knife to a gunfight" (queue Emmett again) and still was the most successful rider in the 800cc era.

Now that Casey is happy on the Honda, put Rossi on the same bike or back on the Yamaha and my money is on Casey and Jorge. Rossi can't even best Nicky (not that he is any slouch). Ducati did next to nothing for Casey in terms of bike design and change compared to what they are doing now and you know why - because bottom line is when Casey got on the bike he was either going to win or bin it trying - and he won enough that they didn't feel desperate enough to throw their design out the window.

Rossi needs to take a page from Nicky and suck it up.
