GoPro Hero3 White Video Testing

I'll be posting videos in this read related to the testing and performance of the GoPro Hero3, particularly the White model since that's the one I have.
I'll take any requests that I think are acceptable to test the camera and other forum users can post their own videos in this thread if they own a Hero3
to see how their camera compares to the other models or to answer any requests in the thread.

O wow, that's actually really good for low light! I'm impressed! I had doubted the white edition, but now I may change my mind... I need a cam regardless.

I was surprised how well it mimicked what I was actually seeing in real life (for the most part) as well. I believe I recorded that in 1080p at 60fps but I ended up rendering it in 720p at 30fps which is what I intend to record at from now on for better battery life and youtube doesn't really give true 1080p anyway. I'm pretty sure capture resolution doesn't affect lighting though.

I wouldn't think it would, and yeah I agree. Unless you're planning on using it for something other than youtube, 720 is fine.

What, nobody wants to watch me commute for roughly 30-45 mins in half speed in a mostly straight line?

I'm not saying there isn't a market for it... I'm just saying I am definitely not your demographic

Your camera doesn't have 1080p @60fps, only 30fps

Nice test though

Try a crash test next like mine

You're absolutely right. I know it was at 1080p and j was switching back and forth between 30 and 60fps when I was trying the 720p mode indoors so I must have forgot 1080 only had 30fps .

No crashing for me! I leave all the physical abuse to you

I'll be posting some morning and afternoon videos later after work from my commute.

I've noticed that I'm getting very good battery life with this camera even though people have complained that it dies very fast. Last night's total recordings were around 48 minutes and I had only used 1 bar while recording at 1080p 30fps no wifi 2 lights. This morning I had it set to 720p 30fps no wifi 2 lights and recorded 32 minutes of video and had all 3 bars when I arrived in the office and when I plugged it in to charge it topped off very quickly.

My only complaint so far is that the wifi button is very easy to accidentally press and turn on when handling. especially when covering the holes on the side so the beeping isn't deafening when turning the camera on and off outside of the case.

Did some more recording today to and from work to see how the camera works in sun light/direct sun light. I'm going to try to get some footage in mid afternoon tomorrow when the sun is peaked for best possible lighting.

Video is also added to the main post.

I too am very impressed and have been happy with all results so far .

I might do some time lapsing tomorrow too. I wish there was a way to simultaneously record and do a time lapse.

I returned that jacket because it was too big remember?! At least I have a helmet, gloves, and ogio no drag on.

Just ordered this today though, I'm done with SPTG. Revzilla has the sizes I need since I'm small :3.
