Oil & Temp light staying on longer at start-up

As the title states, over the last week or two it has taken longer and longer for the Oil & Temp lights to turn off at start-up (cold). For the past 9K miles it would always go off by 2 sec. max (estimate). But today it was more like 5 long sec. Thinking it might help, when it wasn't turning off, I tilted the bike more upright, and it instantly turned off.... I don't know if this was a coincidence or not. I am waiting for the oil to settle to double-check my oil level, but I suspect it is fine.

Anyone have a problem like this?

i have the same prob.... to fix all i do is tilt the bike so its level as if going to check the oil level then start it up. the light shuts off after 2 seconds or so.. i think the cause is all the oil is going to the one side and its not enough for the oil pump to push through the system???

I don't understand why it changed all of a sudden. I sure hope nothing is about to break.

I have always used the Motul 3000 until this current oil, which is Valvoline 4-stroke (it was cheap). I just picked up the Shell Rot. and will likely stick with it now that I found it locally.

It seems an oil change solved this problem.
It looked like I may have had more oil than I usually put in.... close to max line, but I don't think over it. I was fearful at first that something big may have broke and the coolant many have mixed in, but luckily I was just being paranoid.

Cool thanks, I was having this problem too where it would stay on a bit longer than usual.

I wish I knew why.... the old oil was actually pretty new. Let us know if a change helps you too.
