I saw the funniest squid EVER yesterday. I was in the car with my wife and saw a guy on a Can Am Spyder. He had a really expensive leather racing jacket - I think A* or something else expensive - and shorts. No helmet or gloves and tennis shoes.

He looked just like Tom Cruise with those avaitor type sunglasses. It was hysterical.

He had the whole I'm a bada$$ look on his face too, it was priceless.

Wish I had a pic, hopefully my description is helpful enough... just imagine.

I saw the Tom Cruise Can Am Spyder guy again today! I was on the bicycle path getting a workout and saw him again (he was on the road not the bike path) and he's still super cool!

Maybe he broke his legs or something and can't ride anymore so it's the only way he can get the same feeling anymore

Probably not but you never know

The spiders are growing on me.... In the rite colors they don't look half bad.
I went squid the other day, had to run to the store and just put on my law required helmet. I did have jeans and boots on though.

Saw a guy texting and driving on his motorcycle yesterday. Not at a stop light either, he had to have been going at least 30 or so....

Oh no, don't get me wrong - I actually really like the Spyders. I even worked on their ad campaign at one point, along with other Can Am stuff.

I am only making fun of this guy for wearing just a jacket and sunglasses. The shorts and shoes are totally squid on this guy. And no gloves or helmet to hide those sexy shades.

If he does have a disability I commend him for finding a way to ride.

Not wearing other gear while handicapped doesn't make it any smarter xP

I see a lot of people rip on trikes so I always try to mention it.

I just saw this guy as I was driving home on the I-15. Words fail me
image.jpg
About a mile later traffic was backed up and this guy had stopped in the carpool lane and was off his bike doing some odd macho walk around his bike - you know, the one where the arms are kind of held out from the body and slightly bent at the elbows, and then swung in a slow deliberate manner. Kind of like how Liam Gallagher from Oasis walks

Awesome! That had to be super entertaining to see - I would have been laughing my a$$ off if I had been there.

That looks like an 03-04 ZX6? Not totally sure on that one. The tail-light looks like that era and Kawa as well?

I've seen tons of squids around this year. Happened to snap this pic yesterday.

Older gentleman, I'd say in his 50's. Riding a Harley, wearing a polo shirt, baseball cap, khaki shorts, and leather sandals. Not the first person I've seen this year in the same attire, I just don't know how you can ride in sandals.

I think Harley riders should be exempt from this thread, not because they don't count, but because... let's be honest, when have you ever seen a Harley rider in full gear?

There's plenty of guys around here that ride Harleys in full textile gear (and 3/4 helmets) but there's also plenty of guys who ride sport bikes in shorts. I think a squid's a squid, no discrimination.

I apologize for this picture, both because of the bad focus and the fact that you have to see my disgustingly dirty dash (I did NOT realize it was that bad.)

Anyhow, behold the legendary sport squid and his mate!

Fingerless gloves, no helmet, no jacket, shorts and tennis shoes on the guy.
No gloves, no jacket, shorts and sandals for the "lady" (who must have been counting on the asphalt to remove an embarassing tramp stamp that showed whenever the guy took off.)

If that weren't bad enough, the guy was one of those who needed to rev the bike repeatedly before he could move from a stop.

Vacationing in Gulfport, MS this past weekend and caught these 2. Didn't appear together, but I guess squids naturally school together.

First this big one. White Busa, Helmet, t-shirt, jeans, Nike's. Had his headphones in and gave the kids a good laugh due to his dancing at every red light.

Then out of nowhere, a smaller squid, I presume on a GSXR (based on his GSXR helmet). They weren't riding together, but the second guy rolled right up beside #1 at the first chance. #2 was pretty much helmet only also.

These pics of people with helmets seem ridiculous after riding through so many states with no helmet laws. Like 80% of people wear nothing

As entertaining as this thread is and as much as I love making fun of squids, the reality is that most people choose comfort over protection. I personally wear ATGATT (Drayko jeans in the summer armored textile pants in the winter) but I know many smart and completely sane people who choose to be "squids". There appears to be this notion that if a rider is not wearing full protective clothing they are stupid or incompetent and imminently dead. While I agree that generally if a stupid or incompetent person is riding, then he/she is less likely to be wearing gear, I don't think it works the other way around. I was living in Rhode Island for the last 6 months, and saw probably 60% of riders wearing no gear, 30% wearing just a helmet, and 10% wearing most of the gear.

So, like it or not, us who gear up are actually the minority, and probably made fun of more by "squids" than we make fun of them.

Must be where i am from in PA then cuz next to no one wears a helmet here.

Cruisers are probably about 80% with out a helmet, and people on sport bikes are probably more like 70%

not wearing a helmet is illogical.

then both the rider and cager should be more careful...
it would be no different than a cager hitting a mountain bike rider.
It really depends on who's at fault.

Manslaughter is a more accurate charge, if negligent death occurs.
If proven to have intent than its a murder charge.

Motorcycle rider does something very stupid like push a red light too much. Gets clipped by car following the law. Witness gets it wrong. Responsible innocent driver goes to jail for motorcyclist's right to fail practicing personal responsibility is wrong.
