Fuel gauge (FI version)
Hi there people, although I'm an old member I rarely used my bike after I bought a car but now its almost summer and I want to use it again but..
I have a think with my European ninja, it doesn't have a fuel gauge and its annoying. I ask some the kawasaki official bikestore I've bought my bike about this and he told me that you can't have a fuel gauge even if I put the american gauges which have a fuel gauge instead of a temp gauge. So does anyone know more about this? this guy knew what he was talking or he was lazy to do a mod like this? Putting a digital gauges would be cool but KOSO and simular brands I think its too high priced for a bike like that (and I don't know if the fuel gauge can be connected somewhere). Thanks in advance people. P.S. The damn light that I need fuel is a bit useless, I want something better than a light(even old bikes have a damn fuel gauge) |

Not sure why you'd want one since they're unreliable at best. What is wrong with the trip meter?

I wouldn't recommend one either. I can go on a 30 mile trip and the next time i turn on my bike i have more gas than when i left for the trip. Looking in the tank is about as reliable as the fuel gauge. Hell, the change in weight and sloshing you hear in the tank is better than the gauge.
I would say use trip meter and just play it safe if you dont know how much MPG you get. You most likely get over 40 and under 60 |

I had a Koso RX2 on my carb model (had fuel gauge) and it was just as inaccurate as the stock cluster. I don't think it's worth your time/effort.
Just fill up every 200miles or so and you're golden.

The light lights up a bit in the beginning(half-lit or so) and becomes slowly stronger and stays lit when you have more or less 30-40km in the tank (which is ~18.65-24.85 miles) Usually one gas tank takes me 200-250km(~125-155 miles) or 300-400km(~186-250miles) if I'm going slowly P.S. The only thing that's bugging me is the gauges, I believe yamaha makes the most beautiful gauges(but that's my opinion) |
