Coolant issue - has anyone had this?

I thought my pregen was losing a lot of coolant as the level would go to exactly halfway between the full and low marks on the expansion bottle after every ride. My rides are generally of around 100km. I would top it for up to the full mark cold and after the next ride it would go back down. I had run out of distilled water to mix with the coolant so it didn’t get topped up for around 300km and guess what - it gets to the halfway mark and doesn’t drop any further. So apparantly half way between high and low is where it likes to sit? Has anyone else seen this?
