[American Motorcyclist Association] - Online entry available for AMA Road Race Grand

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- Amateur road racers who plan to compete for American Motorcyclist Association national No. 1 plates at the 2014 AMA Road Race Grand Championship on Sept. 6-7 in Millville, N.J., can now pre-enter for the event.

Pre-entry information, a detailed preliminary schedule, supplemental rules and more are available at www.ccsracing.us. The deadline for online entry is Aug. 22 at 5 p.m.

"Thanks to our event partners at the American Sportbike Racing Association and the Championship Cup Series, pre-entry is now available for this national championship event," said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant. "We encourage all competitors to sign up now for what will be a great program on a national-caliber track."

The AMA Road Race Grand Championship is running in conjunction with CCS classes. The 2014 AMA Road Race Grand Championship will welcome racers from all clubs and organizations at the New Jersey Motorsports Park event, and is open to all licensed road racing AMA members. Racers will compete in a number of skill-, age- and displacement-based classes for national titles.

Riders will get ample track time and an opportunity to race against the country's fastest amateur racers. The best compete for the AMA Road Racing Horizon Award, which is awarded to the rider showing the most promise for success in the professional ranks. Past winners of the AMA Road Racing Horizon Award have included Jason DiSalvo, Hayden Gillim, Jake Lewis, Ben Spies, Miles Thornton and Blake Young.

Other awards at the event include the AMA Road Racing Youth Award, the AMA Road Racing Top Novice Award and the AMA Road Racing Vet/Senior Award, presented to a standout rider who's 30 years old or older.

For more about AMA-sanctioned competition, see www.americanmotorcyclist.com/racing, and make sure to follow the AMA on Facebook at www.facebook.com/americanmotorcyclist, on Twitter @ama_riding, @ama_racing or @ama_rights, and on Instagram @ama_riding and @ama_racing.
