Different Brake Reservoir

Hey guys, have been searching the forums and can't seem to find anything about getting a new front brake reservoir (i know i've seen something somewhere) for our bikes.

I recently got clipons and noticed that the reservoir is preventing me from turning all the way. I'd like to get something like the bigger bikes have, the more cylindrical shaped ones. I don't understand why ours couldn't have just come with them from the start.

Vince,

Is it possible for me to order only the "arm" of the front reservoir (the pivoting aluminum arm) instead of the whole thing? If so, how much will that cost? Thanks.

exactly, is that a direct replacement for the OEM one? and how much of a pain is it to install? I'm assuming u have to bleed the brakes right?

See my version here:

http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=33510

And VeX's DIY here:

http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10678

Bottom line, if you get a ZX-10R (2004-2006) master cylinder/brake lever/reservoir off EBAY, you can install it without changing the brake lines. You will need to bleed the brakes.

How does this remote reservoir work with the stock front integrated one?

i dnt think its "remote". im pretty sure its a direct replacement for the stock block looking one. ull prolly hav to bleed the brake system to install it. A small hassle for a large improvement IMO.

It's just a reservior. You will need an aftermarket master cylinder in addition to this reservior.

I'm pretty sure it's a direct replacement, as the previous post quoted. No master cylinder needed. Vince, can you verify this?

No... Sorry you are wrong.

Our master cylinders are a 1 piece unit including the reservior. The new reservior most be connected to a master cylinder that is one unit by itself and not a master cylinder/reservior combo like ours. Go back to post #13 and look at the two threads of the guys that have done this mod. They both used different masters. No way around it.

If you want to run a remote reservoir you will have to change the master, and as someone mentioned maybe use something off the larger Ninja's....be great if you find one of the newer radial masters, should be a nice improvement in feedback and feel.

I sell these mini reservoirs you can use with any master that runs a remote reservoir. They are small and tidy and very inexpensive.

http://www.tygausa.com/rc51-vtr1000/...reservoir.html

These are also great for the rear reservoir as well, little bit of carbon for some bling and they are small. Finally another option for the rear is the HRC kit that deletes the reservoir completely!

My initial impression when I noticed the box vs. the cylinders at the dealers was that the cylindrical ones seems to be "tacked on," like a home-made bike. It really sticks out to me. I like the compact, matching one our Ninjette sports up front. The others like look like they get in the way of instrumentation and bar operation.

I would really like a new reservoir for my 250. The clip ons are VERY close to running into my new koso rx-2 gauge and I don't want ANYTHING scratching that thing..... so along with the reservoir that shinto is making I will need a new MC too??
