Installed 2 Bros Exhaust with P1 Tip
Well I (a chick for some who require this info) removed stock and installed it today (1 hour cuz I'm particular). Went with chrome and the install was easy as pie excluding the Spacer that does not fit flush on the inside. But its attached with some coaxing. Sounds great with the P1 Power Tip, I'd not want it any louder tho. Most talk is about the "sound level" and "smaller profile". No one has mentioned the "heat increase" under the seat and against the back of the legs without that heat shield on the lower pipe below can. Geeze just cruising around for 45 minutes the heat of that thing is a big change from the stock can and shield! For a smaller unit that little bugger throws a large amount of heat at your back end. It does contribute to a more controlled ride by getting that large and heavy Kawi can off the back end. Over all I'd give it about a 3.5 out of 5. Penalizing for heat increase in the back and fit when trying to force that spacer into the bracket and the cost of that Power Tip! Wonder if there is any kind of heat shield for the now open pipe at the bottom.... Well I now sound like I fit in with the big boyz in the group rides... "cool beans".

Depending on how the can's constructed, might be able to mod your old heatshield to fit on with a couple bolts or some wire hanger setup. There's probably a better solution, but that's a start.

Thats what I did at first...checked the construction of both cans... the stock with heat shield is not a probable solution. Further the 2 brothers is oval more than the circular shape of the stock set up. The more riding the more I get used to that heat. The faster you run the more heat is disapated away from the rear.

That could very well be true Andrew. I'd wondered about that. It may calm down once our temps get below 95 degrees. I veered away from the C.Fiber because of the re-packing issues that may be needed over a period of time. I'm tellin ya that aluminum can shoots a fair amt of heat out in stop and go traffic! I've noticed that the smaller profile of the 2 bros. vs. stock can is significantly shorter bringing it closer to the seating position... this probably contributes to the added "warmth".

looks nice, are you planning to work on the carb and remove the air box?

Something like this? This is a hand polished Targa heat shield. Not worth the money, but it was a project that kept me occupied for a bit, and looks pretty good on the bike now that it's shined up. Nothing really helps with the heat, and the shield is mostly cosmetic, but it does help keep you from melting your boot heel on the pipe.
Really, though, slip stream is the key to keeping it all cool.

Not planning to bother the carbs/airbox thus the purchase of the slip on. That photo'd heat shield is not bad lookin.... but now that the weather has cooled to a bearable 90 degrees (grin)... the heat from the slip on has subsided. It was that 100+ weather last week that really up'd the heat index under my butt... all is good for now! thanx guyz! You all rock!

The power tip is supposed to decrease the decibel level of the exhaust. The slash tip is worthless, and the straight tip is good for no more than 3db. It's a nice flashy gizmo designed to remove about $30 from your wallet.

Can you just fit the stock heat shield in to stop the heat?

No, at least not directly. They have different attachment clamps. You could fabricate something, but it's really less of a heat shield than it is a boot heel shield to keep you from melting you boot heel directly on the pipe. The heat shield is only marginally cooler.
