I got an actual bike cover for like $15 shipped on amazon. This looks like it might actually be better quality and a better fit lol.

My only complaint would be that those grill covers tend to disintegrate after a while (or at least in my experience). But at the same time, so do the motorcycle covers. Either way, great use!

Spent $30 on a "Deluxe" cover at Walmart back in 2008 but now the "Dust cover" is that much at least. It's very faded despite limited use (sorry, lil' Ninja!), so I might be picking up one of these sometime soon.

It looks like it could use some nylon straps with buckles to be NW Ohio wind-proof, but besides that, great find! Now I might be able to bring my ninja to school with me without leaving it out in the sun/rain

I wonder if this would work for covering my bike while towing it home. There are supposed to be isolated thunderstorms on the day that I am picking up my bike would like to cover the bike on the trip home if it does rain. But then again it may not work that well if I have to strap the bike down to the trailer, unless I put the straps on top of the cover.

How do you strap down a bike in a trailer?

Yeah, it might not fit over when you've got the bars strapped down. Makes sense to just tie down a tarp over it to the same points.

If you need to, both Walmart and Harbor Freight sell tarp grommet kits so you can add grommet holes to the BBQ cover to increase the number of tiedown holes.

Just wrap a long elastic bungee cord with hooks on the end around it or tie a light line around the bike and cover to keep it from blowing off.

Good to hear it fits the Ninjette as well. Perhaps a pic to show how nicely it fits?

Motorcycle Cover 08+?

HAAAY.

So, I got this POS motorcycle cover the other day from Wal-Mart... (What can you expect I guess...) and needless to say, it's too big, lets a good amount of water through, and well, yeah.

So, I was wondering what covers you guys use for your 08+ bikes?

I guess this also links into my other worries, but its been discussed before. I'm moving into an apartment complex where I'll be able to park my bike behind my car, under a carport. I plan on getting a chain and attaching it to one of the posts, and getting a XENA disk lock, plus my bike cover.

Where do you guys store your disk locks + chains? (I don't have any saddlebags and I don't like the way they look on our bikes.) Also, can anyone recommend a chain? Living on a budget as of recently, looking for something $60 or lower.

Any protips for security or whatever? Looking for everyones .02, thanks!

Don't get a BiLT MC cover unless your bike will be under a carport and out of weather. It won't last a year out in the sun and in weather. The disk lock will fit under your seat. but I don't know about your chain. Maybe wrapping it around your rear passenger peg bracket or inside a tank bag?

I've seen people who get larger bike covers to cover up their bike to conceal it's shape.

covering the 250

So I have read the few threads I have found about covers but none of them really seemed to hep me. it seems like most of them were just bout what ones not to get. does anyone have a recommendation of one that I should actually get? Im in North Dakota so will be dealing with the rain, wind and sun.

I don't recall the size that fits a 250, so you'll have to check on it, but I'm particularly fond of this cover myself. I don't have to deal with the Sun, but with a five year warranty, who cares if it gets brittle?

I have one of these in medium size, fit the 250 perfectly. There are hooks and grommets along the bottom to really button up the bike in a long term storage situation. I've had it for 2+ years now with no problems. My climate is tropical though, average 90 degrees everyday with 100% humidity. I am not sure how the cover will fair in colder climates.

That covers looks good I went to buy it but your billing address and shipping address have to be the same. I work in a different state and don't want to pay to have it shipped twice

Check out Why I Hate the Wind thread for why covers can be a problem in high winds.

Only six months or so, so admittedly not long enough to notice any minor issues.

Question

So I will prob be taking a new job where I will need to cover my bike. Anyone know of any covers that can be put on a hot bike? most say "wait till bike cools to put on", I will not have the time to wait for it to cool down.

Hey, does anyone know if it's okay to buy a "large" cover for your bike... my walmart sells a few but they only sell large

I don't want it to not fit snug..

In my experience, it's only a problem if you live in high-wind areas, since it ends up acting like a sail. The loose material might get dirty from touching the ground, and you gotta be careful to not brush those dirty parts against your bike in case they have grit in them. That's about it, though.

I mean, I store my bike in my shed, I only want the cover for a dust cover in the winter and also when I park my bike at school/work on sunny days I just want something that will protect it from possible vandalism. I need something light weight so it can fit in my back pack decently too.

I am worried about the hot exhaust touching the cover.

If you're really concerned about it, you could just get a vinyl strap to wrap around the cover and take up/fold over the slack so that it fits a bit tighter.

I got a deluxe cover from Wal-Mart in 2008 that I still use. It's faded/sunbleached, but it held up well other than that. I don't recall seeing a size, but it said it was also for sportbikes and our bike isn't that much smaller than the largest sportbikes. The very bottom of the rear wheel is sometimes left exposed but that is a very small area beneath the swingarm and it is still shaded and protected from rain by the rest.

Oh, in that case you'll probably be fine with a big one, as long as you can manage to stuff it back in its sack. Look for the ones with the shiny bottom half, they are very heat resistant and won't melt onto the mufflers.

I have 2 of these:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It fits the Ninjette and the Elite perfectly. I've had the one on the Elite for a year and it's still in great shape, and it has kept the bike totally dry in some pretty serious storms.
