I closed a women's gas cap like that once. And man did she have a conniption fit! Last time I helped a motorist going down the road.

Here in Cali I get folks in big trucks and such that will see me splitting and bring the mirror in and give a little wave. Thats the first thing i thought of when I seen it closed. I always assume they probably ride, I try to do the same when I see some one coming up.

i know a few people who do the same... they told me its because too many motorcyclists splitting have taken off their mirrors or gotten mad at them and caused some other kind of damage to their vehicle... now they blame me for any negative motorcyclist interaction they have

In my part of cali, it seems the raised truck thats stuck in bumper to bumper traffic is the one that is trying to kill me, not fold in mirrors. Seriously, had to deal with one of those. Passed the car next to them on the right and went on my merry way without having to keep checking if they are coming after me. It seems that more heat in summer has increased the cagers need to kill.

As a rule, I never touch another car (on purpose) when I'm riding. People have all kinds of weird reactions, from "thanks" to "OMFG HE TOUCHED MY CAR!!!!"

Call me cynical, but I'd bet the mirror was in because that person drove too close to something else.

It is from the UK.

I'd say UK people are generally very uptight. Too much rain, too little space and to many years of accumulated awkward socialisation has turned many of us that way

LoL!
I also see people driving like that, I will do 'em a favour next time.

Once I had to point out one lady driver that she had a parking ticket on her windscreen. She must have been driving with it for a while. What did she think, if you ignore it - it will go away?! No.
