Giving into temptation
Unless there is a dealership with a used Ninja 250, I am thinking of buying new.
Should I just walk into a dealer with $4250 in my pocket and tell them to take it or leave it? This would be MSRP + state tax, nothing else. I haven't bought my gear yet, though. Should that be my next step?

Uhhh Im not too sure about that. I bought all my gear first, then the bike. If you get the bike first, you'll want to ride... without gear.... which is a problem. But +1 on used
Try shopping around local dealerships too if you have a couple. See what they can do for you, if one has a better price, ask the other if they could match or beat it. You never know. I did the mistake of not shopping around. The white SE 250's are rare in my area and I jumped on the first dealership to have it. Thus, I ended up $6,050 poorer. Lol. Haggle and shop around. That was my mistake. I didnt haggle or anything at all :-\ |

You should definitely get your gear first - you don't want to cheap out on gear because you spent everything on your bike. Listen to the guy who high sided in traffic yesterday.
Also keep in mind they will charge you for license and registration as well. |

I'd also strongly suggest a jacket. And +1 for getting your gear beforehand if you can
If you can't find used, cash talks. If the dealer won't come down from over MSRP, see if they'll toss in your choice of a decent helmet and/or jacket/gloves as part of the deal. If not, I'm sure another dealer will be happy to.

Any interest in coming up to Wisconsin to buy used? I'll be looking to sell mine. Has a 12" AreaP full exhaust, Factory Pro Jetting, Woodcraft Clipons, Puig (I think) Tinted Double Bubble Windscreen, Rearset adjusters, Tyga Carbon Fiber Front Fender, Targa Fender Eliminator, Corbin Seat, and BikeMonkey Integrated Tail Light. I still have all the original parts as well. Shoot me a PM if you'd be interested.
