Quick, Decent Chain Oil Option... Thoughts?

So, my chain was much like myself: KINKY. I work tomorrow early, and am busy for the next few weeks. None of the auto stores had anything decent, so I made the trek to Home Despot. Methinks that the option I chose is a fairly decent one.

I bought a marine grease, which is typically made for boats and such. Apparently, it lasts long and repels water like crazy. I lubed the chain w/it, rode around, and ... so far, it seems to stick, albeit, it flings a bit. Probably because I used so much.

Here's the link: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...&storeId=10051

Did I screw up, or am I brilliant?

You be the judge!

If it works it works I guess. Walmart or any other store that sells automotive items should have the Dupont Teflon spray either the chain or non chain specific

I wish we had a Wal Mart nearby....

I'm in DC. No Wal Mart, and auto stores are pitiful. IF they carry something, they're always out of stock, if it's popular. So... just wondering if I screwed up my O rings, or... what....

I guess I'll see!

Yes, you did,............not because the grease, but because neglecting the chain's lubrication until it becoming kinky.

The only real danger is the grease landing on the tire at higher speeds.

Next time, use ATF, which is muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better for O-rings and penetrates the rollers with damaged O-rings.

OK, OK! point taken! Good point. I'm a ding dong. But ... still.. it's a decent and very cheap option for folks anticipating a major rain storm, no? Wouldn't it be a good idea to put it over ATF on a rainy day? I'm really just wondering if it's a good idea, or a really horrible one.

BTW, I've ordered the DuPont chain stuff in a can. AND, I've watched the excellent video that someone made (on the DIY link). YES, I need to be better about my chain. Thank you guys for emphasizing that.

Just a heads up that you can get that teflon spray at Lowes for slightly over a $5 a can, so the best of the best is already cheap and easily available. I don't think HD has it though, at least not on their site.
