New Fairings
Hey all,
I figure there is already probably i few posts out there about this, but i am feeling a little lazy right now.... Anyways, looking for advice on any good sites on the web to get new fairings from? an awesome matte black or possibly a carbon fiber look would be great! Just kind of weary of the sites on the web, and for the kits if they come with a tank cover, or if ill have to get the tank painted. Any advice is much appreciated! |

I used www.dhgate.com with success. Takes 2 months to receive though since all the sellers are in China.

Ya I was looking at that site.. But seemed really foreign and was unsure of what kind of quality would come from them.

Don't expect OEM quality, but for the price it's good. I didn't have any fitment issues. Like all aftermarket fairings, it's not as flexible as OEM. Seems to weigh a tad bit heavier, but not by much. Paint job was better than I thought. If I had to get new fairings for the 250, I'd buy from that site again. OEM is not worth the price.

Painting is quicker, and you can do more with it. Or wrap your plastic or et them wrapped

Since I know nothing about painting and have little experience with it... I want to make sure I'm not getting a horrible deal. How much should I expect to pay for a simple flat black without a shiny finish? All plastics and tank.

As promised. I didn't want full matte black so it has a couple of coats of glossifier on it.

I think I did 4 coats and you would probably only need 1 can. I went through 2.5 but I had to peel it off and redo it twice. But that's the beauty of plastidip - it comes off perfectly and can be converted back to stock. So I'd say give it a go - worst case you're down $5. The only problem I had with it was the instructions are wrong/useless. After following the instructions and screwing up I looked online . And everything says to start with a light layer and 10 mins between multiple coats. The other thing the instructions don't say is that you need to remove any tape immediately afterwards or it'll peel off with the tape. Apparently each coat re-liquifies underneath it so you have to wet the area right before you peel. |
