Clutch question

Quick Question for all you guys and gals that have made changes to your bikes. Will the 300 slipper clutch basket fit the 250? I have the opportunity to buy a 300 slipper clutch (both halves) basket for cheap but it does not have the drive gear which is located directly behind it. I dont think they bolt together since the basket has splines for the shaft but I dont know if the shaft is the same size in both motors. Let me know if you know they are the same size or not.

Thank you
Ant

IIRC it won't. I know the clutch basket from a NewGen Ninjette will fit a PreGen, but I don't think the slipper will fit.

I am bumping this thread to see if I can get a sure answer. @Ghostt: thanks for your reply, I am still trying to find a definite yes/no answer. Since the price is so cheap I may just pick it up and try it. They used the same shaft for the 1st and 2nd gen so they may not have changed it but since there is no info out there (and I think racers would have done this) there is a good chance it wont work.

Slipper clutches are nice on a more powerful bike, but not the case on the Ninjette IMHO.

I found out about a month ago my SV1000 has a cam style slipper from the factory. Never knew that but now I realize why the rear doesn't get squirrely when I let the clutch out quick with that big V-twin.

The slipper clutch will fit but while require grinding of the cover for clearance.

I recall some time ago that someone on here from Europe (Russia area?) had done this, or found a slipper clutch for the 250. Check out @Somachi and see if it was him...sorry for the lack of memory...
