I suspect most cops could keep up with most ninjette riders through anything but congested traffic that the bike can split through. I know some people could beat a cop through twisty roads, but not most.

I think in the right hands and in the right area, the ninja could probably get away. If I was on my KLX, I could go where no cop car can.

I know if I was in the twisties I could most likely get away. Not really willing to find out though.

Are ya'll allowed to just ride down the left side of the left most lane when traffic is at a stand still on the freeway/highway? By that I mean you're still in the lane but right next to the solid line.

Legally, no unless you are still in the same lane as the car

Technically yes, but practically, no, you aren't going to have room in 99 percent of situations.

You may not go on the shoulder.

I lane share sometimes on local roads, single lane roads, but they are pretty wide, if people don't want to get going, I'll just go around them. Same thing, really, just safer.

I'm assuming because it's more common for someone to lane change into the right most lane if they are in the middle to take an exit ramp or right turn. Meaning you might get squished!

Good post. Can I merge it with our mongo lane-sharing thread over here? Many of the questions that may come up based on this info have been discussed pretty thoroughly over there.

30mph or less...I wonder if this now allows the chp to pull people over splitting on the highway, or anywhere with traffic over 30mph and issue a ticket.

Ultimately it's up to the individual officer to determine if you're lane-splitting safely, just like it always has been. Those are recommendations, not set-in-stone laws.

THere's no law against splitting so no, they cannot pull you over for lanesplitting

I said safely. If you're being dumb while lane-splitting then you can still be pulled over for reckless driving like any other driver.
