So. Cal Noobie Track Day Feeler Part 2

Well I've been mulling this over for a while now and Jiggles has harassed me/called me out to get one going. This thread is to get a feel, hence feeler, for who is interested in going to the track and having some fun. I will ride in the beginner group and help you find your lines at the track, give you riding tips, film you if you want. We did this in November and had a great freakin' time so I'd love to give it another go, a few of the noobs have become junkies! Here are some of the details:

Cost: Last time that we went we got a $20 group discount so it landed up being $130 for the track day. Other costs include: transporting your bike to the track (gasonline, trailer), food and water for the day, gear (leather suit, full face helmet, full boots, gauntlet gloves), maybe new tires.

Location: Either Buttonwillow Raceway Park (less likely) which will be August 3rd or 4th and therefore really hot... or Chuckwalla Valley Raceway on Sept 20th or Oct 25th which are both on a Friday. These are the days that I can fit in to my schedule and are before a race weekend for me, so I'll already be out there. Sorry if Friday is inconvenient.

Link to the previous noobie day thread: http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=115882

We all had a great time and I hope we can get new people out there as well as the first group of noobs out to enjoy ourselves. Post up in here if you're just INTERESTED in attending one of these days and which one you prefer.

Mentions of the previous noobs, hopefully you guys can tell people how your experience was: @Jiggles @andylawcc @jenndiggity @Raider24 @krolinked @KJohnson21 @Darling Ninja @Meltoff (you better come out dammit!) @Kevin2109 @Gurk @rawbert625 I know you're interested.

In if it's on a weekend. Out if Friday.

As you know Fridays are pretend to work time for me.

PS: Have you considered June 1 & 2? I'll be @ chuckwalla that weekend. Maybe if most people want weekend we could try june? it might be a tad cooler than august? maybe?

No Chuckwalla will be Saharan Africa hot in June, trackdaz is crazy for doing that weekend. Also I try to set the days up way in the future so that people have time to save up to buy suits and what not.

June 1&2 won't be nearly as bad as June 22&23, when TrackX will be there.

However, running the early schedule, sitting in the A/C'd classroom, and swimming at Lake Tamarisk makes it a much better weekend!

I vote Laguna! Last time there I was 3 places ahead of Doug Chandler (yellow/blue CBR) into the corkscrew. I'm pretty sure he was racing.

Don't forget Laguna Seca has some strict noise limts

Quote:
LAGUNA SECA AND NOISE MONITORING (updated 2/9/12)

All bikes are measured for sound, every lap. If your bike exceeds 90-92dB it will be flagged off the course. If you adhered to our stock-only rule you will be allowed to ride until a 3rd violation (two attempts to quiet it).

If you ignore our stock-only rule, insisting your bike is quiet enough, you will be allowed to ride until just one noise violation. Then that bike/pipe is done for the day.

Note: Beginning in 2012 aftermarket pipes equipped with commercial quiet baffles ("dB killers", etc.), including Jay Murray's "quiet insert", are permitted under the 3-strikes rule. Contact Jay at 831-659-4729 or email jaymurray2@aol.com.

A little about Jay's inserts: guaranteed to work or money-back, Jay is onsite during our Laguna events to provide free support (and can make mods there or at his nearby shop), and fabrication turn-around time is generally only a day or two (if you haven't waited until the last minute when he is busier).

That's the one thing about riding Laguna that sucks... and don't even ask about the price of a noise limitless day...

Dean do you know why they have the limits in place?

Yeah I'd heard that was it... I figured they'd just say "hey I have an idea, if you don't want to hear the noises of a race track then DON'T MOVE NEXT TO ONE."

But then there's $$$...

I believe the track is in a county park. That's why there are restrictions. You don't have to be loud to be fast.

I'm doing Laguna Seca June 1&2 with Z^2 (Zoom Zoom).

It's part of a special event through trackmasters, but they're opening it up to the public. 5 groups - 3 cars and 2 motorcycles.

DAMMIT I wish that wasn't right before the second MRA round. I want to struggle to crawl up the back straight and barrel face first into the corkscrew so badly. Bucket list item still pending

Time to start saving Cap'n! There are some sweet deals on Teknic Chicane suits right now. The Alpinestars Trigger suit is also on clearance as well as the Dainese Avro. Check them out!

The cheapest I could find any of those was still like $450. That sounds like "next season" to me.
