fork dampner rod ?

do you have to disassemble the forks on the 300, to remove the dampener rod?
going to install emulators and need to drill out the rods.
thanks.

Yes, you will replace one dampenning device (the holes in the rod) with another (the emulator valve).

Nope.
Take off caps and springs
Remove front wheel
Remove bolt at bottom of fork legs
Poke a stick upwards thru hole in bottom of fork and dampers will go upwards out of fork tube

Getting things lined up for reassembly can be frustrating but its certainly doable.

I would, drilling the tubes in a vice or drill press.
I believe it is possible in the bike, but I have not tried that.

there are a few emulator DIY threads floating around. I suggest you find one and review it. Lots of your questions will be answered and it will save you time.

I actually think I used a magnet from the top to get the dampers out, not a stick from the bottom. Oops. My memory has never been great.
