I live in NJ and I have my FID. Getting a concealed carry permit is nigh impossible for a civilian though.

Even if I could I don't think I would.

All the time I carry every where Iam allowed by law . Criminals strike every where . You wear seat belt or a helmet for safety and protection And hope you never need either one. CCW is the same . For safety and protection

The government here doesn't allow civilians to carry a hand gun at any time for any reason. I probably wouldn't carry one even if I was aloud though.

They are starting to do something similar here too. More and more traffic lights are getting CCTV cameras around here. They don't give tickets, but there are a few of those cameras too. Last I heard, the ones in this county are not allowed to record.

Just curious, but does the CCTV thing over there actually work to prevent/solve crimes?

All those who are wondering why we carry must live in rather benign suburbs. Although I live in a nice part of town, I work in El Paso the "safest" city in the country. I track the ER so I know how "safe" it really is, hence I pack when I travel into the city, especially on a bike.

Back home I would only carry if I was headed out to the woods, fishing, camping, etc. for various reasons but not so much around town. I choose to stay away from hazardous areas if I can. If not, I bring my friend.

It's not for everyone.

I don't think it does have a notable effect on preventing and solving crimes. There have been lots of government funded and third party funded research into the effect of cctv, and the vast majority of these studies find no significant effect. They are extremely expensive to operate too.

Something I find very strange is that not many people seem to be noticing the increased surveillance, the increase in the rate that laws are created, the reduction of civil liberties, the centralisation of power and the increasing divide between the super rich, the rich and everyone else. Call me crazy, but I see a pattern that is showing no sign of slowing down; I strongly suspect things will get worse and worse. As a result of that, I'm trying to make the best of my life right now: enjoy my Ninjette and the freedom I have left!

Now you gun-toters have made me curious....

How often do you guys have to whip the "gat" out an "buss a cap 'n sumun's a$$"?

Have I been missing out on all the fun?

Or are you just staying prepared in case the zombie apocalypse begins during your commute?

How often do you use your helmet to prevent your death on your motorcycle?

well, by that logic you should also be carrying a kidney dialysis machine along in case you go into renal failure while riding your motorcycle.

So then if riding without a helmet was legal, you wouldn't wear a helmet?

You are not opening your mind to a differing point of view. You think you are right, but you could be wrong. If you don't listen to what the other side has to say, then you will never know.

Even though it is highly unlikely that you will be in a motorcycle accident, you still wear a helmet because in the event of a crash, it will likely save your life. Same goes for seat belts in cars. People choose to carry a firearm on their person because even though it is highly unlikely that they will be robbed/mugged/attacked if that situation arose, it would likely save their life.

Trained LEO's don't have their weapons mounted on the bike or their person so they can draw while riding. Because it's completely pointless. There is no accuracy from a moving bike, and once the bike it stopped you're a sitting duck from whatever vehicle you're trying to evade/avoid/lose.
