Throttle wont return anymore..

Today I was replacing my right handlebar..
I removed the throttle housing? Idk what its called...

But when I put it back together.. the throttle will no longer return to the close position..

It just revs and never comes back down... =( Did I screw something up?? Its not even rideable anymore.. does anyone have a pic of how the throttle cable is supposed to look inside the housing?? Im lost..

There are push and pull cables, is it possible that you poped one of them out.

Try this: Turn the bike on, Rev it, and try and turn the throttle back to closed position. If the revs go back down then the push cable is fine.

Sounds like you have some binding. Take it apart and look carefully at where everything is supposed to go and then try putting it together again. While you're at it, lube the cables.

Look to see if your grip is getting hung up on something.
That's usually what causes it if it's not something assembled wrong..

Maybe there is a Ninjette member close by who can diagnose your issue, or maybe you can take a picture for us to see if we can spot it. Some of us know every part on the bike inside and out.

There is a spring down at the throttle butterflies that pulls on a cable to cause the twist grip to snap back to idle. You can locate it by removing the right side cover of the bike (black, held in place with one phillips screw). To see where the problem is, I would undo the assembly on the handle bar and work the cables by pushing/pulling with your hands. Any binding? then the problem is further down. If not, the binding was on the bar end of everything. Carefully re-assemble the assembly on the handle bar and before tightening everything down, make sure the grip will twist freely. If that didn't do the trick, lubing the cables may be in order, or the cables need to be re/routed, or both cables may need to be adjusted on the butterflies end of things. Let me know, and I can fill ya in on how to do all that...lots of typing though, so try all that first.

Is the grip snapping back closed immediately when you let go of it? If not, the easiest thing to check is that the grip isn't binding against the bar end or the switch/control housing.

Surprised no one has mentioned improperly adjusted throttle cables. If they are adjusted to tight the throttle won't return properly.

I recently fixed my slow throttle close problem by adjusting the cable. Mine would hang for a bit then would come down slowly.
