Used 2009 250r <200 miles, specific issues to look for?
I saw a 2009 ninja 250r with less than 200 miles on craigslist for a relativley attractive price considering milage. I was wondering if I should be concerned about the fact that it hasnt really been ridden in 4 years, particularly the winter storage.

You'd have to clean out the carbs, possibly replace all rubber hoses, oil, tires, etc. Unless it's really cheap I'd look for one with appropriate mileage indicating it's been ridden regularly.

It all depends on the precautions that the current owner took before stopping the bike (mainly regarding fuel and oil) and on the environment it has been stored (exposure to humidity and Sunlight are bad). In general, miles gone under any bike are not that important, maintenance and smooth riding have way more influence on its condition. http://www.clarity.net/adam/buying-bike.html Here are some general references that may help you: http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/New_Riders Having an experienced friend helping you through the difficult process of finding and testing a good used bike would be great. Best luck in your search !!!

Carbs, oil and tires like everyone said. Not sure about the hoses though, my 01 and 04 hoses are fine. If you're down with having to mess around mechanically with it then it seems like a fine bike that will be very much like new. Make sure you know WHY it's been sitting for 4 years though.

Thanks for all the responses. I had looked at some used motorcycle buying guide checklists, and definitley had some concerns about the bike. I sent a list of questions to the seller, but he sold the bike in less than a day on CL.
