If that's your decision then you will never have anything other then the stock exhaust, just so you know. There is not a single solitary aftermarket exhaust ever created (nor ever to be created) that will be as quiet as the stock exhaust. In the end it's your choice and there's nothing wrong with wanting to stay stock.

If this doesn't go through soon I might have to back out. I just recently spent a few days in the hospital (appendicitis, yippy ) and have a $500 copay to deal with. I'm still on for now, but we need to make this happen soon.

The AreaP was offered with a Long Quiet 1.75" core and I remember seeing dB sheets somewhere saying it was comparable to stock. If there was a way to retrofit a quieter muffler to this AreaP system then I'd do it.

payment would be made by credit card prior to shipping. after the Gb is over, they will need to assemble the exhausts... most likely be completed within a week.

Checked with Kerry and he's a bit apprehensive about doing this based on the fact that the GB would be over by the 5th and if for some reason you didn't follow through, others would be affected as there would not be the 5 required.

So, to get around this, how about if the GB were extended to the 5th? Would that work for everyone else involved? Let me know your thoughts if you're one of the people that have already signed up.

With regards to the issue of providing a quieter version available in the GB, here's what Kerry is offering as an option.

These mufflers were/are actually very unique and were initially designed for a completely different (and much more expensive) project. They are a "Dual Chamber Core" design. Essentially it is a larger outer core (2.375") and a smaller inner core (2.0"). We pack the outer core more densely and with a different material. We pack the inner core with our Silent Sport Premium and less densely. This creates a unique tone as it attenuates the sound pressure waves between the chambers twice.

Now when we do the final assembly on these for the GB (assuming we make the minimum), we can actually make the inner core smaller (1.75") if they prefer. I did notice one person asking for quieter, so this will accomplish that. Whether it's quiet enough, I don't know since sound is so subjective to each individual.

I had a deal on something else fall through, so I might now be interested now, given the new information. I'm not looking for anything to be as quite as stock, just something quieter than the muzzy I bought last year. I was considering doing the ZX6e muffler mod, but the lack of documentation and affordable used mufflers, I might just sell the muzzy and get this instead. Or maybe I'll just keep both for the sake of having spares.

I'll read through everything in the other thread again tomorrow and tell you guys what I decide.

Where can I get more information on this "ZX6e muffler mod?"

Just search "zx6e muzzy"on ninja250.org. There really is no documentation on it at all, just mention that 1 person did tried zx6d and zx6e cans on the 250, with the e actually working fine. There was some mention of having to cut stuff to fit though. The guy eventually reverted back to stock.

Maybe I'll just stick to stock as well, after some consideration.

Would this make it the same as ordering a long quiet from AP's website, just in SS instead of CF?

No. The Long Quiet Core muffler is designed very differently than this particular muffler; from the inlet to the outlet. From a sound standpoint, the best way I can describe it - it's a deep tone that is somewhat muffled. The tone will not be as quiet or "soft" like our long quiet core muffler.

I have no problem extending the GB to 5th if that's what it took to get 5. I've just posted this link in 250's group in Facebook, hope we get more interest.

extending it would be entirely up to Kerry. I have an inquiry into him at the moment, so we'll see what he decides.

This GB is now closed.

To the 4 people that signed up (Fjyang, Hunsy34, Sombo and komohana), sorry we couldn't make this happen. If are still interested, I urge you to contact Kerry directly @ areapnolimits@sbcglobal.net.

My thanks to Kerry Bryant for making the offer to help Ninjette.org.

Alex, please lock this thread.

GB HAS BEEN REOPENED

Okay, GB is back and open, as requested, for 2 weeks. That means the closing date for this pregen GB will be 12midnight, 19July Hawaii Standard Time. As in the original posted GB, we will need at least 5 people to make this happen. All other details remain the same as in the original post.

I will send a PM to the people that signed up prior, but for now, I will start with a clean list. If you want to participate, please copy and paste the list with your name added in your post.

Mines already jetted from a previous owner because of them putting on the 2-1 Yoshi exhaust. But I find the Yoshi to be a bit loud, not to mention that the pipe is getting a little too rusty.

Thanks Kelly, I've seen it in the wiki, really need to consider doing this next time we gotta get to the carbs (hopefully that'll be a while though). I'm kinda afraid to keep putting different stuff on it (pods, needles, blah blah blah) becuase from prior experience the more "mods" you have on it, the more stuff that could (and WILL) go wrong with it. Unless of course its done correctly the first time
